Might be a good thought to offer them some water. I find that they often return the favor by ridding us of some of the not so welcome visitors. Bird bathes are a lot of fun to watch.

Noah, I have a bird bath in the front and in the back yard and a huge water trough that always has water in it. But the large birds, Grackles and Crows, keep the tiny ones away from them. I always feed and water any critters that come around here! I think the water in the plant saucer is a lot cooler also so the smaller ones prefer to drink there. They are so precious!

here's a cool spider of a type I've never seen before.
he was on a rudbeckia cherry brandy I was watering this morning. He would have matched better on one of the gold ones!

I posted a picture to a friend of mine who is really up on west coast snakes, if he reply's we will know for sure . He's not into computer's by a long shot Email is a strain on his brain

Yeah, I like the name banana snake too. It does sound less threatening. They always have such beautiful markings for something so frightening (for me anyway).

Here's something none of us like to see. After being gone for a week I came home to this. Wiped out one of the AeroGardens entirely and I am having to really battle with them on the ones close by, naturally!

This is a Crested Caracara Falcon (pretty rare). It lives around here - I see it and it's mate often.

Yes they are. It always takes my breath away when I see them flying by. Their wing span is 4 plus feet wide. They spend a lot of time on the ground though, unlike other falcons or birds, and they build their nest out of sticks. Fire ants often eat their babies so their successful reproduction rate is low. I think I read that they are on the US Endangered species list and are protected birds. ~J

Agree with that, this year the ants are everywhere. Of course so are the caterpillars, squarels, rats and what not else.
Tony, did you capture the critter that was stealing your fruit?

I was fortunate enough to get a shot of the pair of Crested CaraCara Falcons this morning. Am I lucky or what? See the point on the back of their heads kind of like a Cardinal? They are sooooo COOL!
