Oh i was looking at the Candle bush and jacaranda online. I'm looking for a small plant since they grow so fast. The jacaranda im going to look for seed. Both are drought tolerant but I would have to bring them indoors for winter. I'll check out the aero garden thread

Hiya Re: Insomnia Thread...

Well, I've been goofing around on the aero~garden site and posting shots of my stuff. I really like that site and have learned so much already.

Hope to see you there JaNan! They'd love it if you started a thread like I did and posted your progress. It's fun and members love to see.

It's late but I'm not tired quite yet. I've still got that custard/apple candle lit and my whole bedroom smells like heaven. I don't want to blow it out.

Anyone still up?

I haven't quite gotten all caught up reading posts here and yonder, but I will get there eventually. I am looking on eBay too, but I am finally tired......so I will try and go to sleep.

I saw your new little nephew was born on your birthday. That will be a birthday you won't forget!

Talk to everyone tomorrow! Nite! ~J

Nope, my nephew is the father of a new little daughter that was born on my birthday! Yup, you're tired!

It should be against the law to be a great aunt before the age of 40!

G'night JaNan. Post in the morning when you set that baby up!!!

G' Morning! What is it when a nephew has a baby? A great niece then. Sounds like royalty! Yes, you are kind of young for that title.

Thanks for the sweet comments on the AeroGarden site! I'll be content to lurk for a little while.

I just went through the top layer of my seed bucket to see what else I wanted to stick in the AeroGarden. I'll zip over to that thread and tell you what I chose. ~J

Hi Peeps!!!

Yup, I'm a great aunt!

My new great niece's name is Brooklyn! My nephew has a 13 and an 8 year old brother and a 15 year old sister that are now an aunt and uncles!!! Kind of like me becoming an aunt for the 1st time at 14. I was so proud.

So I gotta check out the aero-garden thread now, but wanted to pop in and say HI first.

I'm kind of excited this morning because I'm getting a 'Calamondin Orange' plant soon! Apparently they make excellent houseplants, and the fruits are edible.

Hope everyone's enjoying their Thursday so far. I'm just making some tea and reading a plant book.

Yay! I love calamondin! I had a gorgeous variegated one, but I killed it. Actually scale killed it, but it was my fault for not noticing them sooner. It was outside placed in a large 25 gallon pot in an area that I didn't see that often, soooo...... ~J

Well Sherry, I hope they aren't gloating! You'll take them next time.

Cameron, citrus are really easy to grow from seed. You can always get them started and prune them or just plant seeds from dwarf trees maybe - I don't know but Sherry can tell you how. I saw an old post of hers on another website and have been able to sprout citrus ever since. It's fun too! Everyone is always so impressed that you can grow a citrus from a seed. I now have Kumquats, tangerines, Mexican limes, red and white grapefruit, any that have seeds. Start all you can and sell them on Craigslist up there to get you some extra money for your AeroGarden!

Here's my Kumquats sprouting. I think I have started 7 so far and 5 are showing signs of bursting! They are thorny little boogers though! I think they are a small tree - at least the ones I got these from are. These are Meiwa. I don't know how true they are to the parent, any citrus, but just the accomplishment is a reward I think.

Did you just now get them out of the lemon? All I do is rinse them off real good and stick them in the medium right away. Sherry says that is the trick with citrus - it has to be fresh. Every one I have done following her advice has popped for me 100 percent! Ask her when she comes back on, so I don't screw up her words. But I haven't gone wrong following her advice yet!

That is one reason I never order seeds off eBay anymore (citrus). Once they dry out they are dead. ~J

Hey JaNan and Gang, All of my Citrus has been Grafted onto a "Sour Orange",( Trifolate) Root stock. I confess my ignorance as to why, but could explain your previous failure Cameron. sounds like something I should check into.
Sherr, as an old man who has had a "Butt Kickin" or two in my time, I have found each experience a learning one,LOL. Giv- em hell kiddo!!

Hi Hippie!!! Have you been planting more citrus and blueberries?

Probably grafted because it is a sturdy proven stock - usually the stock is not very good fruit so they graft the tastier fruit to it and get the best of both worlds that way. There are many professional nursery men on here that could answer all your questions about that stuff. I have never tried grafting though so that is just a tidbit from reading. ~J
