Thanks, Notrecruiting!
Wow you're lucky Mitchel....my neighbor's steal my plants and yours give you them! That really is a gorgeous and stunning plant. Have you ever tried to root one of the leaves into another plant? (hint hint ) : ) |

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
I get the feeling it wouldn't work cause they are very thin. I think to clone it you would have to cut off part of the plant.

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
You wouldn't want to cut any of it off...it's just too beautiful.
I love how black/maroon it is. Very special indeed. I'm after some new succulents this season and want an echeveria called "black pearl" & also one called "Perle von Numberg". : ) |

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
That must be what happened...I didn't see the top pick. Just the shots of the stem growing upward and the side shot of the flowers.....so how tall is it?

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
With the small pot it's in somewhere between 3-4 feet tall I guess.

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
3 to 4 feet tall?! WoW!
JaNan, here are the 'Leopard Spots' mother of a thousand cuttings now! Just look at how much they've grown... Actually I think it was only one cutting but it has spread! The plant must turn green in winter like most do, but color back up come Spring? I love the little babies that grow off the leaves. So cute. Sure is amazing how much it's grown throughout January. : ) |

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
Yes, Sherry that looks great! That plant of Mitchel's is really a knockout - that color contrast between the bloom and the plant is very striking! ~J

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
I know JaNan, I've never seen anything like it anywhere! I couldn't believe it when Mitchel first posted the shot.
I'm hoping to get my paws on some special echeverias and other succulents this season...although I already feel like I have some very special ones from you. Whatever ones I get, I'm willing to share too. I think you said this one is called "morning lights" JaNan, and the two pieces you sent are taking off for me now... : ) |

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
Now let's see ... what kinds of edible Succulents & Cacti are we all growing?
The Dragon Fruit is of course one, and we have a thread for that. I'm sure many people are growing Nopales, aka Prickly Pear, or Mission Tuna. Probably many people have Purslane growing as a weed -- perhaps a few are growing it purposely as vegetable? And what about Cuban Oregano?

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
That cuban oregano looks pretty cool.
I am after super bright and colorful succulents this season for ornamental value. I'm growing several kinds of dragon fruit however. : ) |

I love them Ron, and thanks for sharing your shots with us.
I have that really pink one you have, too. Do you know it's name? : ) |

Unfortunately not, many are sold without a tag.
The really blue one in the 2nd pic is Echeveria Lauii Ron... |

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
Woops, sorry Ron...I think I referred to it as white instead of blue, in your picture album!
It sure is a beauty, along with the rest of them. I guess this pic could go here too. These 'string of pearl' cuttings are taking off like crazy this Winter... I think I might be giving them to JaNan, in Spring. : ) |

Re: Succulents & Cacti...
Richard, the only edible cactus/succulent I'm growing is my Opuntia humifusa. The problem is it's in my front bed next to the street and the deer get to the fruit before I do!
