Here's my 'Sticks on Fire" cuttings from Bob, now rooting...

Here's an internet shot, to show how it will look when it's mature in the bright summer sunshine...

Wow both of your collections are gorgeous! Here are pictures of my Candelabra cactus. I've had it for 4 years and I've kept it inside because I'm so afraid it will be too big for my house. Its almost to the ceiling now and its still growing, but slowly. Its over 6 feet tall now. The other one is a couple of feet tall and its from a cutting.

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Sherry, Sticks on fire should be Euphobria tirucalii.

The Hollyberry Lady 11-30-2010 05:10 PM

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Yup that's what it is PenJ....Euphorbia Tirucalli. :08:

Bob says he heard that in Southern California they turn more red in Winter but ours have turned green in the cool weather.

Gorgeous pictures, everyone. :03:

Here's that one you like Janan, at other times. The color fades depending on the time of year...

Here it was last year with my earth star plants and another succulent...

"String of Pearl" or "String of Beads" cuttings I'll be sharing with Janan...

Baby Burro's Tail "Burrito"...

Echeveria...

These Jade cuttings sent from Oklahoma, started out small but just look at them now...

We shoud all trade the ones we like from each other because as you guys know, it only take one single leaf to make a new plant.

By the way...

Here's a cactus:

My Roger Meyer Dragon Fruit cutting that originally belonged to Patty but that Bob shared with me...

Here it is today in this shot, kind of blurred in front of more "sticks on fire" cuttings. It's really taking off for me now though...

The flower to my Thanksgiving cactus opened. I found out that it is yellow which I'm so excited that it is.

Wow Janan, nice collection! I especially love the first plant. My aunt has one of those. Its gorgeous

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Thanks Cameron! I still have more to add but don't want to hog the gallery up too much so I will add them once a day. :ha:

I love the first one too though a lot of people don't. If your Aunt has some it should be easy to get some babies from her if you want some. The common name for it is Mother of Thousands! They have the most spectacular blooms on them and they last for months. So easy, too! ~J

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Thanks Janan. I've heard of that. I havent visited my aunt in years, which is sad but everyone has been focusing on themselves.

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Cameron, I just love that new delicate pastel yellow Thanksgiving cactus you got! :08: That is a true beauty!

Janan, your shots are gorgeous! :goteam: Love your stuff!

I saw a ton of succuents today but none of them really caught my eye so I didn't get any of them. I like brightly colored ones most especially.

Looking forward to seeing more shots of people's stuff...

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Thanks Sherry! Another bloom is opening up so I'm so excited about that one. Maybe next year I'll put them in one big pot lol

The Hollyberry Lady 12-02-2010 10:22 AM

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Gonna push myself to go out in the snow today so I can pick up a dark purple-ish one for Janan and get a white one for you and I, Cam! :woohoonaner:

I think they look terrific in hanging baskets and it's a great way to keep them out of the way when they're not blooming...Janan was mentioning too. ;)

They thrive in low light, so finding a great spot for them indoors is usually not difficult.

Please show more of the blooms as they open, Cam. That yellow is so beautiful! :D

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Thanks Sherry but you really dont have to do that lol. The buds are so unique, they start out pink and then they turn yellow. I think a hanging basket is a wonderful idea. I would need to get some plant hooks when I get some

The Hollyberry Lady 12-02-2010 10:50 AM

Re: Succulents & Cacti...

Never because I have to Cam, but only because I want to. ;)

We are mailing to each other anyway so I'd love to include the little white cactus plant for you...then it will grow all next season too. :D It really is no trouble so please think nothing of it.

I can't wait to get that purple-ish one I saw for Janan...gonna try to pick the darkest one they have because there were a few. I'll bring the camera to the store and take some shots for you guys in the insomnia thread later...

Watch...I'll come home with like 10 new thanksgiving cacti! :ha:
