Re: Pisang raja and pitogo banana
I will say though... I just had my first raja pisang banana and it did not taste good! It was thoroughly ripe, but the bunch didn't completely fill out so that might have had something to do with it,...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
I have the most bananas in bloom at the same time ever (5) and it's a little late! We have been getting frost every year lately :( I have been so disappointed basically every year. This coming year...

Re: *Help* Pups don't grow
I wanted to give an update about the raja pisang. I ended up moving it to the side of my house because these pups got blasted by a frost that winter and never really recovered that well. I think I...

Re: squirrels vs. bananas = devastation
That is some awful squirrel damage! I had no idea they went after plants, are you sure it's squirrels? Rabbits eat everything green in sight it seems and I know my guinea pigs will eat banana leaves...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?
Thanks for showing this. What was the stress? I agree with leaving the leaves on, I have had multiple bunch failures from not enough leaves. Could someone stress the plant in other ways if they need...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?
Yes you are right, it could be a trigger for blooming. When we had hurricane Ian during all the wind we chopped off the top of two pstems, they ended up blooming a couple months later but the bunch...

Yeah I have never seen a benefit from cutting leaves in fact having too few leaves is why I have yet to taste my tall namwa after about 5 bunches...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Yet another Tall Namwa bunch! This will be the 4th in a year. I have to be honest though I still have yet to try these things! The last bunch I posted about got too much frost damage back over...

Re: Arctic Blast
So sorry to hear :( this is definitely a historic cold event. Hopefully we get a break from these events for a while! If not I guess we have to get creative. You can put chicken wire around the...

Good luck and stay warm! Our forecast is 35 so I'm hoping the frost doesn't settle on the leaves. Last year it did.

Re: can you give a banana to much potassium
Bananas planted in florida sand don't seem to do so well. My bananas in richer soil do much better. So I throw as much compost and mulch as I can on them. Sandy soil just leaches everything down....
