Without any more information, my first guess would be too much water or poor drainage in your potting mix.

Re: Mice eating harvest!

Get "rat bars" and wire them around the flower stem above the bunch so that rats/mice come to them before the reach the bananas. They are generally about an inch square and about 1-1/2 - 2" long and...

Re: Self Watering Containers

Banana plant roots need air! So when the pot soil mix is course & fast draining, as needed by the plants, the soil will not have the capillary ability to draw water up from the bottom of the pot. ...

I never cut down the pseudostem until at least all of the leaves have dried out, and even then usually not til the pseudostem has stopped being firm and green. As long as there are leaves, there is...

Re: Started flowering in winter

Nor more new leaves. The flowering cycle will continue to completion, even in winter. As long as the pseudostem is viable, they should ripen in the spring. You really can't alter the trajectory and...

Re: Questions about Dwf brazilian

Yes, DB is called apple in Hawaii. Manzano means apple in Spanish but is a different variety. Manzano is taller with a very skinny Pseudostem that falls over ridiculously easy.

Re: Wording question on TARS 18171 African Rhino curator notes

I would interpret that to mean the first time it fruits it has a certain number of hands, perhaps 2-3, and then on subsequent fruitings from the same mat it has less hands, probably just one.
