Hi all,

I live in Morocco since 2016 and I have different fruit trees on my roof. I also have a banana plant which when seemed to be two plants instead of one. So when I planted them in a pot I separated them. But I place them both in the same pot.

I cut almost everything down and both were starting to grow again. Can someone explain to me what would be wiser:

Leave both plants in the same pot or separate them and put one in another pot?
And how do I know if they are growing healthy and the right way. After around two weeks or more, the plants look as if they did not grow a lot (on basis of what I saw on you to be etc).

And also even if they are growing, they become a little bit brown and the side comes loose. Is that because leaves are formed this way or do I have issues?

The pot has soil from the land of a family member of mine, who filled the pots up with soil from his land where he has a lot of olive trees, vegetables and some fruit trees. He also gave me sheep manure which I placed on top of al the soil. It is sunny now and the temperature is at the moment 22 Celsius.

Any advise on how to grow the plants better? I also don’t know what type of banana plant it is, I just took it.

Welcome Abdars! I moved your post to the "Members Introduction" forum in order to introduce you to existing members and you get more replies from them. They will also want to welcome you.

It would be better to put you banana plant in separate pots. That way when they grow roots the roots will not get intertwined and tangle. They will also be competing for nutrients, so that the more vigorous plant might choke the weak one. Having separate pots will allow each of them to grow more roots and get the nutrients without competition.

I think the easiest way to kill your plant is overwatering . If the soil drains good it is better.

Welcome aboard the Banana Express.

Regarding your situation: first of all, separate everything. Get each plant into its own container so it can thrive. Second, as Checker55 mentioned you want very well drained soil. I mix in a granulated pumice to aid with his. You can also use vermiculite or very coarse sand. Third, you want to test your soil's pH to be certain it is not too acidic or alkaline. Mixing manure in concerns me, as you can easily drop the pH too much. This can result in poor growth and burned foliage.
