I have a Veinte Cohol in one of my patches with a purple tint where the petioles meet the pstem. This coloration is unusual to me since I've never experienced this with any of my VCs in years past....

Are you applying the fertilizer to a banana plant in a pot or in the ground? If it's in the ground, don't use slow release fertilizer and fertilize more often if you're concerned...

The Tu'u Ghia is disease resistant so does that include viruses like bunchy top? We don't have banana diseases in my region so I'm not versed but interested in learning and promoting awareness.

Just check the top layer and soil around drainage holes with your finger. The meter stick going ll the way down the potting soil may disturb the roots too much. Just my opinion.
