Hey folks
I do not know the name of this Banana but it is about to bloom.
Me thinks it is a Variegated African Rhino horn.
I lost the name tag for this and can not find my glasses.

Just Kidding!!!

cincinnana
That's a pretty neat looking plant.
Did you grow it from seeds?
Or you bought it in a pot?

It sure does look like an Okra . But that is just a wild guess. The pods look like okra .
Perhaps a few more pictures are needed . just so we all can see the complete plant
If you get any seeds you want to share Id love a half dozen of them jist to plant it and bug my Garden Buddie! He will scratch his head for a month before asking me what it is
Ha ha ha Sometime seeing a different plant just makes my day!

This is the closest I'll ever get to having a variegated banana-looking plant in my yard. Every time I walk by this plant it reminded me of variegated African Rhino Horns. It was so neat I had to share it.

The plant is a variegated Brugmansia purchased at a nursery in Indiana near my home.

The plant should bloom a light peach color.
Thanks for looking.

These are ones that have bloomed over the last couple months:

Pisang Awak, sold as "Ice Cream"; 12' of p-stem; 12 female hands so far (I think it's done making female hands):
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

Second Dwarf Namwah bloom of the year; 7.5' of pstem; looks like more should be on the way from this mat soon.
[IMG][/IMG]

Second Dwarf Brazilian bloom this year; 6' of p-stem.
[IMG][/IMG]

First Monthan bloom, flag leaf out -- hard to get a shot of this one; 9.5' of p-stem.
[IMG][/IMG]

Orinoco flag or pre-flag leaf; 11' of p-stem. This one will get the axe to make way for a real Blue Java / Ice Cream before its fruits ripen.
[IMG][/IMG]

Pome cultivar; 11.5' of p-stem. This is from Jon (Pitangadiego) and is what he has labelled as "Cardaba". It is not remotely similar to Cardaba. Instead, it is in the Pome subgroup and might be a relatively short variant of Brazilian (but it's not Dwarf Brazilian), or could be a different Pome cultivar. Whatever the case, it's a great plant -- resilient and fast to grow and bloom (by the standards of my climate). Jon says the flavor is very good, which is to be expected given that it is a Pome variety.

Hmmm seeing the Dwarf Namwah makes me think .. Where can I put it? What could I move? Why didn't I get a larger lot when I got this house?

Yes, it's a good one. More space for more plants would be nice!

From what I've read (Kepler and Rust), for ("tall") Brazilian (AKA "Hawaiian Apple") there's a range of sizes (12-20'+ of pstem). Some variants are consistently very tall, like yours Mitchel. In Hawaii, some people call that variant "Kamehameha." This particular plant from Jon has been on the short end of that range of sizes (I think he told me it averages around 12' in his yard). Could be a "short" (not dwarf) Brazilian, or a closely related but different cultivar in the Pome subgroup.
