I have two ice cream banana plants that are a year old. They are just over 5 feet tall. These are my first bananas, so I'm so excited to see them bloom for the first time.
Can someone tell me, or better, show me a photo (as I've been unable to find a closeup of the stalk that the bloom comes from) of where the bloom stalk comes out, telltale signs what to look for when they bloom, or any info at all what to watch for? Thanks. Nana Nut |

Oh my gosh, yes that does help!!
I'm not positive, but I think I may have two "flag" leaves. At any rate, after producing leaves normally, all of a sudden up popped two leaves right after the other that were much shorter than the other leaves and kind of curled up and twisted. Subsequent leaves have been coming out perfectly after that, so I guess I should keep an eye on these "deformed" ones. Thankyou so much for the information. You guys are, well, bananas!!! ![]() |

A one year old, 5' Ice Cream banana plant is no where near blooming. Maybe a year from now.

Oh shoot, I was so hoping it would bloom. Especially since the place I bought it from claimed it would bloom in 8 months. But thanks, I won't get my hopes up.
