![]() Sam,
Lovely yard. I see that Persian Shield goes well with chartreuse things. (To my eye.) Perhaps I should try some under that new banana ... what was it called ... the yellow variety of a Siam Ruby ... I'll figure it out. KJ

![]() OK, I only saw 1 or 2 from northern regions
I've spent the past 4 years on major renovations to our house I have done almost ALL of the work Bought Nov '03, started renovation in May '04 so BEFORE: Broke a rib in '06, twisted knee in '08 Last major construction started October '08 - story addition If you are really bored (or interested) here is a web page with the major projects Holidaves Blowmold blow mold Sales They include: 6'x10' three season front porch - this due to the fact the storm door was ripped out fo our hands 3x the 1st winter Dormer back of house for a Master bedroom, steam shower, walk in closet Greenhouse - 1st started in '05, finally new design & finished in '08 Only 7x10 as it is close to the lot line - all that they would allow me since there was a pre-existing cement foundation there July '06 the garage foundation is poured - I hired this out I then broke a rib walking around the cement wall So that was it for the summer, My son was born 2 days before I broke the rib For '07 my wife invites 100 people to my son's 1st birthday party So I "quickly" build a sunroom, nice day & everyone is outside at the pool. Six skylighs - the top 3 vent ![]() In Spring '08 I twist my knee - bad So the garage/great room addition is not started until October I race to get the roof on by Winter I Lose that Race So the front roof is on, I'm working oin finishing up the last few rafters Then the back roof will go on Despite all this work I have put in a LOT of gardens - bulbs & perennials - NEXT POST When we bought the house there was one garden - our front - faces North. I have put gardens everywhere & filled them with perennials. I have planted over 6,000 bulbs for Spring flowers They start in late Feb with close to 2,000 crocus Then tulips, daffodils, hyancinths & others ![]() ![]() ![]() No sooner do the Spring flowers fade then the perennial flowers start blooming. This year I have dozens (hundred??) of Lupines growing. All together the number of perennials are well over 1,000 ![]() ![]() ![]() Plus other assorted flowers I have dozens of these growing all over, different colors ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The back yard faces South, I have the 7x10 greenhouse Then a 10x14 veggie garden/nursery/grow out garden Down back near a stream I have a 25x30 garden Also a pond system going in With all the construction work I haven't been able to get the gardens the way I want them - maybe next year A boat load of poop for compost ![]() This is what my veggie garden looks like onceit grows in My tomatoes grow abou 8' tall I planted sunflowers that topped off at around 10'+ A pumpkin went close to 40 pounds Peppers, summer squash, lots of cukes + more ![]() My son ended up with a play area where the pond system was going to go. I picked it up for $75. Loads of wood - I heat a lot with wood ![]() The pond system will be around 1,000 gallons & will border the gardens ![]() ![]() I built a picanic table, then I had to build a deck to put it on It's out back of the pool & will border the ponds ![]() And a new seating area, raised planter, bar, fire pit I need more "wide area" pics instead of close ups of work ![]() I also have huge Halloween & Christmas displays Construction put a dent in the displays last year ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by LilRaverBoi : 05-14-2010 at 10:47 PM. ![]() Very nice! I'm originally from KY and I really miss all those nice bulbs I used to be able to grow. I'm still not sure I'd trade it for being able to grow bananas, though.
