Today in Rome.....
14° celsius minimum at night , 26° celsius max at 14.00 moderate winds from NW and low humidity....

Not the best weather but it could be much , much worse compared to Northern Italy....

Cold, windy and rainy..... above 1400 m. is snowing...:coldbanana:

The forecast is good for the next days.... the artic stream that caused rain and the drop of temperatures is leaving so, we can reasonably expect a slow comeback of summer here....

Re: Weather forecast

The weather in Greece is also significally cooler then last week and also cooler then normal.
Last week we had a heat wave with temps between 35 - 37 ° C during the day and lows of 25° C at night.
Friday it started to cool down with thunderstorms and rain all days untill yesterday. Now it's about 10 °C colder during the day and night compared to last week.
Normal weather should be between last weeks and this weeks temperatures.

I know even current temps may sound like paradise for you guys in Central and Northern Europe, but anyway it's too cold for this period of the year. Daily mean temps in June should be around 24 ° C, the last days were only 20 - 21 ° C. Last week we had mean temps of 29 ° C.

Part of this erratic climate , could it be a consequence of Volcano's eruption in Iceland ?
I've heard that the ash shot in the stratosphere by the volcano could affect europe's temperatures for a long period...

Re: Weather forecast

Today's forecast for Rome is 26° celsius max (16 celisus min at night) sunny and low humidity due to north-western moderate winds.
Hi pressure is slowly coming back to Italy from Spain and is pushing east the low pressure associated to clouds and rain....

Actually The cloud front should have passed over croatia going East....

So my friends, Dalmatiansoap should experience a change for good fo the weather but beware of a moderate to strong western wind.... Jack Daw instead should prepare to bear the brunt of the bad weather front going straight toward central europe....

I see also another front passing over Ireland and UK going east toward Scandinavia...

Summer is crawling slowly in Europe.. let's hope that things continue to get better.

Bye

Rick

Unfortunately. No salinity here, so they are in every small lake and since this is a fertile delta lowland, they are everywhere. Not for long though, they've been insekticized!

We have them very bad here in Florida, USA.
I use something called the "Mosquito Magnet" to eradicate them from the area around my home. It really helps to reduce getting as many bites.
It traps them in a container where they dry out and die. I check how many mosquitoes that I caught with it several times per day.

I call it blessings of the continental climates. We had some tourists from UK in the Tatra mountains the other day. Day temps rose to 28°C, so they were packed lightly, and when the night came and it started almost freezing, they had to be carried down the hill in a helicopter. A very expensive trip indeed. ;)

Thanks, I'm more for bio-countermeasures, such as bats. Bats can eat thousands of insects/night (but in the summer mainly mosquitos). If it weren't for the humans and their fobias, there would still be any in my surroundings. I actively work to change it and establish a new colony in the riparian forests just 2 clicks north of me. That way, both the habitat and they, will be protected and can't be removed.

Lucky you. I see workers spraying that *** all over the place, but without any effect. If it reduces a colony of 100,000 to a colony of 10,000, that's not much of a help. That's pretty much what's happening here, because they simply can't cover the entire riparian forest area (hundreds of km2).

P.S: For those of you unfamiliar with the term riparian forest: Riparian forest - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and here you can see what such a forest looks like just 2 clicks from here: Lu?ný les - Wikipédia or press here.

I'm, curious if it exhales any smell of gas etc? Here gas is saturated by very stinky substance to help smell it when it's evaporating.

Here in Greece, the real heat hasn't arrived. It was only around 30° C the last week, with night temps around 20 ° C, partly windy and we had low humidity, too. Only around 30 - 35 % during the day.
But it's getting a little hotter and more humid, but slowly, slowly.

I think Greece was/is the best option at the moment to avoid the boiling heat and humidity and other, mostly northern parts of Europe!
