Hello All,
We are a small tropical plant nursery located in Fruit Cove, Florida. We specialize in rare and exotic tropical plants. Bananas are some of the plants we like to grow. We have 'Siam Ruby', 'Basjoo', 'Saba', and 'Ae Ae' in stock. All are for sale except our personal 'Ae Ae' that we love. The 'Ae Ae' spent the last winter with us inside our home. It grew quite well for about 4 months inside. Then it started not doing so well and the top started to rot. I the trunk in half and moved the plant outside and it is growing very well now - a real show stopper. http://www.bananas.org/images/smilies/waving_banana.gif We have a lot of 'Siam Ruby' Bananas in one gallon pots. They are getting a bit too big for their pots and are over 3 feet tall. Love the red and green color of the leaves. Someday we hope to get some red bananas. We noticed they do best in shady conditions. The shade helps to keep the red leaves red. The ones we planted in full sunlight grow very slowly and the older leaves "bleach out". Prolific in producing pups which is nice. We are thinking about trying to do some banana tissue culture this winter. Happy growing, Paolo |
