I was able to harvest fruit from My Calif Gold but it took extraordinary long time because of where I live. We have discussed in my other post that bananas stopped growing altogether at 55 degrees...

My dwarf Brazilians were almost as tall as my Calif Gold when they fruited. Not 9 feet. Only 5 1/2 feet.

I think it is the soil temperature that governs the growth of bananas as Sunfish is saying. And it would take quiet sometime to reduce the soil tempt that low.

Your Calif Gold looks so cool. Much better than mine. How did it fare last winter? Expect to blossom anytime now. It looks like it is that height that my CG blossomed. Between 4 to 6 feet....
