My guess with your toadstool issue is possibly the soilless mix used contains some sort of manure or organics when wet create the perfect...

Looks and sounds like overwatering. Fungus gnats suck. I hate them. I would water once every 5 days if your doing 3 now. At least for a couple weeks. Let things dry some. Overwatering is the #1...

I keep a habit of periodically popping my plants out of the pot and looking at what the roots are doing. If they are getting packed then gradually upsize. I'm still learning bananas but so far...
