Transplanting very large plants

Hello, I'm moving but would like to bring my big banana plants with me. They're a variety of small banana that is popular around SE Texas. I live in zone 10a and was hoping they may set fruit this year but am moving within a month. Would it be worthwhile to try to bring them, or do plants this large have too deep of a root system to be able to get enough using a shovel?

I would wait until 12 noon when the earths rotation have them straight up.

otherwise no problem. might be a bit heavy at the corm on the larger ones

If you can handle them at full height, then good. But I would cutting the pstem to 4 ft would make moving the plant a little easier. .... The roots are not very deep. Just loosen the soil about 10" to 12 " from the corm; then slip something under the corm to lift and rock the corm back& forth until it rolls out of the hole. Some roots will brake off, but they will grow back. ... The plant will be showing new leave in about 10 or 12 days after replanting (may be before).

Go for it. Take as many root as you can. I have moved plants that were 20' at leaf tip without a problem. The bigger they are, the heavier they are, the really heavier they are to handle.

yes, I am doing a banana circle. 9 namwa, 3 Manzano and 3 dwarf reds. any where from 6 ft to 3 ft. p-stem heighth. I cut every leaf off except for the last 2 or 3 depending on how many roots come with them.

just planted 3 iholene [maybe] 3 weeks ago doing the same thing. got them from the west coast of florida. they are starting to put out leaves with a quickness.

I don't remove any leaves. The plant will figure out how many leaves to keep.

Update: It made it, leaves were worse for the wear from dragging on the road(short truck), but it's now happy in it's new home. And if anybody is wondering, the plants in the background are a ponderosa lemon, loblolly pine, musa "ice cream" from my local nursery and musa zebrina in the way back.
