I tried that and got lucky. Last fall I had some tiny pups, almost sprouts. Potted them in the fall, watched them and tried to keep them warm. One gave up the ghost and the other I kept clipping...

That would be a good experiment! I wonder if the heavy snow would insulate the ground some when it's covered. I've herd when you plant in the ground, plant the corm a foot deeper than recommended...
