Wow that is terribly small. Is that similar to the betta cubes? I know they will be much happier in the new tank

Not sure Cam...what's a betta cube? Sounds like something even smaller!
![]() I'm so anxious to put the frogs in their new home. I've got them all fed and they're super active tonight, even in that tiny little container they're in. I guess I'm just going to get one more frog and one male Betta fish. I think that will be enough for now until I see how this all is going to work out. I'm gonna transfer them tonight around 2 am...this will be 24 hours. Do you think it'll be ok Cam, or should I wait longer? : ) |

I'm back everyone
![]() Sorry to disappoint, but I was sick again, then had two migraines on top of that ![]() Ok Sherry, what do you need help with? I have set up quite a few tanks ![]() If that is a three gallon tank, just make sure not to get too much. Don't want it staying constantly dirty and the PH level messing up all the time. The PH for those frogs you have needs to be as close to 7 as possible I think. They are a bit pickier then others are. I hate the idea of betta cubes and other very small containers. Unless used for shows and they are only in there for a very, very short time. Don't know if you already got the other frog and fish, But I would personally stick with just the two frogs for a week or so then get the betta. And maybe stick with only two frogs at first to see how clean the tank stays. It shouldn't hurt to put the betta in soon though. As long as you monitor the PH a bit closer. You do have a PH kit right? They are only about $5 and are a necessity for fish keeping ![]() I didn't read all of the pet thread, but skimmed some of it ![]() One thing you need to watch is the depth of the water for the frogs. They have to go up to the top every once and a while. Your tank doesn't look very deep though. Hope everyone is having a nice day ![]()

Jordan I'm so sorry to hear you were sick. I hope you are feeling better? I looked at the forecast and there is a chance for rain and snow on Christmas Eve, but it depends on how cold we get here. I can't wait to see your frogs in their new home

I knew you'd know a lot Jordan. Sorry you were sick!
![]() Ok I will maybe forget the third frog for now but just get the one Betta...will that be cool? The tank is actually twice as deep as what you see in my pics because I'm only showing half of it. How tall would you say it is Janan? A foot and a half maybe. Is it ok to put them in the new tank tonight, Jordan? It'll be 24 hours that it's had to cycle. Is this enough? I used bottled spring water to fill the tank...3 gallons. : ) |

Too funny, Tom!
Yup, you know me well. The camera will be out as soon as they drop.I'm still worrying about transferring them because I was told they can jump away! ![]() I'm totally excited about it too, Cam. They are really funny sometimes. Earlier when I was feeding them, one of them was on his back with his legs up in the air, like he was playing dead. The other one fills himself with air and floats to the top. It's hysterical. They're very active tonight. Do you think they'll be shocked to see the new tank? : ) |

You can't really cycle anything without having some sort of ammonia in it. So if you put the frogs in now then they would be a source of food for the bacteria that are needed for aquariums. The bacteria eat ammonia and help keep the tank clean and are a vital part of every aquarium.
Really a bottle of instant cycle of what ever its called would be a good idea also, but I think it is rather expensive. I would put the frogs in when you are ready to, as long as the water is around 7 PH. And then just check the PH once a day or so until it stays around 7 without you having to do anything. Then PH checking wouldn't become a everyday thing. In a tank that small just putting them in and doing like above should be good enough for it to cycle. And if you are monitoring the PH and water it should be fine. I am going by what I do for fish, don't know exactly about aquatic frogs. But I am guessing they should be about the same. Don't take everything pet stores tell you as true right away I have been lied to many times by big chain stores. But usually small family or local owned stores are better. You do have chlorine remover right? If you don't have chlorine remover and didn't use it in the tank you just set up I would wait a day or two, maybe a bit longer. Chlorine would burn their lungs and kill them.

Thanks Jordan, because I can be gullible and too trusting sometimes, only to find out later that I was told a bunch of Horsesh*t!
So I guess I need to get some kind of test kit? Should I test the water first before I add them? This would mean I'd have to wait, but I don't mind if it's better for them. How bad can it be though, compared to what they're in? I feel so guilty that they're in there. Ok the small one is called Finley and the fat one is called Filbert! ![]() If anyone laughs, I will kill them! Who knows what to name a frog! : ) |

Ok so you need a bottle of chlorine remover that is safe for fish and frogs. Which should be what ever is good for fish because those are aquatic frogs anyways. Something like this:
Amazon.com: Aquarium Pharmaceuticals 85J Stress Coat Fish and Tap Water Conditioner, 64 oz. Jug: Everything Else That's what I use, it is usually in stores for cheaper. It helps the fish heal and de-chlorinates the water and makes it safe for them. Then also you need a PH kit: Amazon.com: API FRESHWATER pH TEST KIT: Pet Supplies And then a bottle of PH up and PH down to change the PH: Amazon.com: API pH UP 16 OZ: Pet Supplies Amazon.com: Aquarium Pharmaceuticals pH Down 16oz: Pet Supplies You can get way smaller bottles, I just found the first one that came up for example. And these last a long time. With the PH test kits I have found the one I posted to be the best. And the brand API is the brand I have used for years. There are tiny bottles of the PH up and down for a couple bucks. It is also recommended to have a ammonia, nitrate and nitrite checker. But if you keep the tanks nice and clean then I find no need for them. I have always been able to keep those three in check all the time though ![]() I would wait to put them in the new tank until you know the chlorine and metals are out. The chlorine should have evaporated out of the tiny tank already that they are already in.

My aquarium kit came with a water conditioner to make the water safe for them, which I added last night at 2 am.
Ok I gotta get the test kit. So you think I shouldn't add them yet until I test the water? : ) |

If you are getting the PH test kit and PH up and down soon then I would wait. They aren't dead in the little tank so it should be ok for a day or two. Probably not the best conditions, but atleast the water seems ok for now.
I would test the water in what they are in now before changing the PH in the larger tank. If the PH they are in now is, lets say, 8, then putting them in PH 7 might shock them. You would want to put them in around PH 7.8 to 8 for a while, then lower it a bit, then wait a while, then lower it. And then after a week or two the PH would be perfectly at 7.

Good Lord, now I'm terrified Jordan!
I hope I can get the hang of this pH stuff. I guess it's a lot like soil pH.Ok, I'll wait before adding them. I would feel horrible if I killed them. Better to do it right since I've gone to all this trouble. They're pretty cool little guys and I'd like to keep them for a bit. : ) |

So I should have a pretty good christmas ![]() Once you get used to fish tanks PH is something very easy, unless something weird happens ![]() I am feeling a bit better then yesterday. I never feel 100%, I haven't for years now. I can't even remember what it feels like not to be sick or to feel good ![]()

I am now
Sorry had another bad headache ![]() Just read your post in the pet thread Sounds like they are enjoying their new tank If there was too big of a PH difference, or if it would have harmed them then they wouldn't be swimming and acting better then usual. What pet stores use to test water is the same stuff I told you about, just I wouldn't trust the little paper slip ones unless that's all you can find. Do you go on your youtube account anymore? You could record them and put them on there also And if you named stuff then you might get some views also ![]()
