Said "Welcome to Bananas" 25 Times | Re: Insomnia Thread... My umbrella tree thats going in the pot I mentioned above has no branches right now. I cut the top part of it off and its not very big or good looking right now. After it starts showing more growth I will show some pictures I am getting some Andean weeping cherry seeds form a trade and they are tropical cherries that don't go dormant! I am going to bonsai them to. Once I manage to get some jade plants form trades I will probably try making them look like a small tree. Now I am obsessed with bonsai!

Said "Welcome to Bananas" 25 Times | Re: Insomnia Thread... Mimosa trees make great bonsai. I have seen many of them and they look incredible Star fruit bonsai are harder to find, I haven't seen very many in a while. Except on google I subscribed to this guy on youtube: bonsai9723's Channel - YouTube He has a couple mimosa bonsai. And he has some really good tutorials. The one winter really screwed up some of his plants though. But he has some good advice

Said "Welcome to Bananas" 102 Times | Re: Insomnia Thread... I'm going out shortly so I'm getting ready. It's too nice of a day to stay inside. I think we're going to Marineland on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Plus we're going back to the zoo on the weekend likely because we missed a lot the first time. It's a huge park and you definitely need 2 days enjoy it. I missed the Gorillas on the first visit. So I hope everyone enjoys the weather and has a great weekend. Summer is great...when it's not muggy. Did you guys see my recent zoo shots? Check out this Pelican. Too funny... How about this adorable Penguin... Gonna load more zoo pics soon... : ) Last edited by The Hollyberry Lady : 08-05-2011 at 11:56 AM. Reason: damn spelling!!! |

Said "Welcome to Bananas" 6 Times | Re: Insomnia Thread... Thanks Jordan. I'm hoping they do well too since they are drought tolerant and attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. I've read that they can survive on as little as 10 inches of rain. I'm going to transplant half outdoors once it cools off and keep the other half indoors just in case the outdoor ones don't make it. Its a beautiful tree in my opinion and its also called the "Orchid of the Desert" because of its blooms |

Said "Welcome to Bananas" 25 Times | Re: Insomnia Thread... What is the humidity? We get our water form the city, so water isn't a problem. Everything just dries out so fast we can't keep up with it. For a while it was 90-100+ degrees and the humidity was very high. So it felt like 120-130. I don't know if it is still that hot, it feels like it though.
