I too think it's superior to what any "western country" came up with, but this is Europe-wise system today (if you are looking for the best, I believe that Italians got the best of both worlds ). It's been updated since 1989 several times, but it definitely has some bugs. Corruption in the insurance companies mainly. I have to admit though, that even though healthcare and health insurance make significant part of "taxes", it's obvious that the money doesn't end up in the hospitals to improve working conditions of those specialists who need precise surgical instruments or advanced technology. But all in all, I do like it.

Are you familiar with Australian Medicare? Would you be able to compare it with the Canadian Medicare? Or both of those to current European medical care systems? Such as Germany, France, Italy... definitely not British!

No, I am afraid not Jack, I have read the History of the various Health care systems, but at Seventy one,( in sixteen Days), I have to reserve what few active Brain cells I have left for more current events that hopefully I may have some control of. I do purchase some Drugs through "Northwest Pharmacies in Canada to avoid the Dreaded "Doughnut Hole" in our Prescription Drug coverage with US Medicare. Many of the "Name Brand" Drugs have Generic forms that we can't purchase here in the States, because "Big Pharma" has bought enough Politicians to get a fifteen year extension on their Patent's. Speaking of "Graph and Corruption", I am convinced that "Democracy" has been long dead in the US, replaced by an active "Plutocracy". I would love to be proven wrong on that assumption, but as yet, no such luck.......Hippie

Nonsense Jack...I'm quite astute on what's going on in the world and watch the news and discuss world events as much as the next person does, but there's a time and a place for these kinds of dicussions & debates. Whenever they've taken place before, threads got deleted and people got banned. It wasn't pretty and it became out of control.


I don't want a thread I intiated, to be banned, and known to be a place where we can insult other people and their beliefs...under the guise of so-called 'discussions'. After all, it wouldn't be the first time and it always seems to take a bad turn because people just go too far.


I don't get why folks who want to discuss these matters just don't take their own responsibility and begin a thread for the very purpose...instead of derailing someone else's that they intended for another.


What's the issue with beginning a new thread and calling it "The Political & Religious Debater's Thread" ???


Then you could discuss these matters there, without any hard time from me at all. If it gets banned, it won't have my name attached to it!


No doubt you're busy with the new girlfriend, Jack...and glad you are. I hope things are going well for you and it's nice that you popped in to say 'Hi'. I was beginning to think you were a snob! Hope school's going well too. I know what you mean about being busy...I feel overwhelmed with everything I have on my plate right now too.

I just got in and have a thousand things to do today but wanted to check in and wish everyone a great Thursday. The sun is somewhat shining this afternoon so this is cheering and it helps the plants too.

Hope you guys are having a great night. I just got back from my mom's place. I was gonna play with Buttons but he's eating his pellets and hay so I was told to come back later.


Now I thought I'd wipe down the leaves of a massive banana plant that came from Zac. It's now a tall tree in here and can't even fit in the shower! I have to spray and wipe the leaves myself. No mites on it though so I'm doing a good job. It's funny though, how huge it is.

Be careful trying to move around that huge banana, you will hurt your back very fast and not even know what you did wrong. (speaking from experience)

My mom and I had a great day and actually went out again today...lunch and shopping. She feels a lot safer going out with me now, rather than alone. It was a good day but not too sunny.

I might be up late but not sure. My one girlfriend said she might pop around later, but not definite. She likely just wants to rave on about how she's found Mr. Wonderful...for the 6th time in 12 months! Too ridiculous.

Looks like a late night for me tonight. I'm having server problems on my website. But enough boring stuff. Today I picked me up a "cactus pear" at the supermarket as well as a pineapple Well, the pineapple didn't make it 2 hours before the top came off and planted in a container.

So, is that night cream like green avocado dip or something smeared over your face?

It's not green and it doesn't look like mud, but it's just night moisturizing cream to keep my skin nice. And wrinkle-free forever!

I'm having a few problems on my computer tonight...something's just not quite right. Think I have to update some of my drivers...

The plans for the weekend are to research how to grow dragon fruit from seed. I'm assuming that "cactus peach" is the same as dragon fruit. At least I hope so. I bought one from the store with the pineapple and want to try to grow that as well.

The job is doing great. I've started putting in some O/T. I racked up a bit of debt the last few months. I had a lot of expenses I didn't plan on like new tires for my car as well as some plumbing issues. So I have to pay off my credit card that got used. The total in damages was about 1,600. I just paid 1/2 of it this pay check and next month I'll pay the other half. It a good feeling knowing my finances are getting back on track.
