G'Morning Sherry! Do you have a tummy ache from all that ice cream cake? What are you going to do today? I have already been planting and re-potting this morning and just got the dirt out from under my fingernails. Checked on several banana corms and they are rotted through. I was hoping maybe for some pups, but nothing will come from those. Very sad. I guess I may have to start treating my bananas like you guys have to do up north. ~J

I cant believe I missed it by 2 days 0.o Well Happy Belated birthday. I dont check out any other threads, mainly this one lol. I'll check out the thread. I'm doing pretty well. I pulled a muscle in my back moving a large plant pot. I also got a little blackberry plant today. How are you Janan and Sherry?

Uh oh! Sorry about your back! I've had my fair share of those. Doing OK here. Just taking a break before I start working on my plants again. Trying to decipher the cold damage, and which ones I need to replace, or really want to replace or try something new. ~J

I am going to spend some time today sorting through some old stuff I don't want anymore and throwing stuff out I don't want to pack and take with me. I have tons to do before I can move and want to get an early start.


Sorry to hear about your banana corms, JaNan. That's so disappointing. I hope you will be able to save your corms in future and know that they'll be safe until the following spring.


I was making some tea and posting and now the phone is ringing but whoever it is, they can leave a voicemail and I'll get back to them later.


Too funny about the cake, JaNan. I've been eating it everyday. Had a big slice last night even, right after I came back from a big walk. I don't like winter to make me lazy and inactive. I can feel spring in the air and it's turned kinda mild here. I can't wait to get on the bike and will be again soon.


So I was up half the night reading that farmer's almanac and figuring out calculations. A bit tired today but I'll be ok. That book is so cool though and very useful to me. The weather has always been a big interest since I took up gardening especially, but even before that.


Anyway, enough babbling. Wonder where Hippie is...

Really? Orinoco is pretty darn hardy for me. Have you checked the corm? It will probably come back up for you I'll bet. ~J

Thanks Janan. I'm going to take alot of advil today LOL. I havent checked the corm but the stalk is rotting. I let the surface dry out before watering again and all the new growth would just fall over. So i cut it back and that didnt help at all lol. I hope i can save it. Alot my plants outside froze back, even my sedums. The Cherry Laurels are covered in dead leaves but i dont want to cut it back because there are pretty green leaves at the tips

Shoot Sherry, I've lived in this house for 2 1/2 years now and still haven't unpacked everything from that move. A lot of my girly girl stuff is still packed up like a pretty little cabbage rose tea set that I know you and your Mother would love. It's a little girl size that I have had since I was a baby. And I have a miniature oil lamp collection that is too cute for words. More dolls and stuffed animals. Stuff like that. Not anything that I would ever get rid of too much sentimental value. So good luck with that! ~J

Nice Cameron! Is that a thornless variety? I have wild blackberry all over in East Texas. I used to make blackberry cobbler, and blackberry jam, and fresh blackberries in my cereal. But boy those boogers are thorny out the wazoo!

Sherry I have a question related to the AeroGarden. Do you want me to ask over in that thread? ~J

Thanks Janan, it is the thornless variety. it also it an upright type so it doesnt need support for the most part. I think the berries are medium sized and very sweet so I'll have to be the judge of that lol. I have a few of the wild variety in my backyard but the birds always eat the berries before i can pick them. Its a 2 year old plant so it should produce this year

Thanks Sherry I took a couple of advil LOL. Its the second time I hurt my back this week. I really hope the blackberry grows alot. this weather is confusing its been in the 70s all week and I'm afraid winter my make a comeback

Sure hope your back feels better soon. That's awful you injured yourself twice!


Winter will make a comback, unfortunately. My farmer's almanac predicts another winter snow storm by the end of February! Yikes!


I've had it with snow and want spring to come so badly.
