Another night in the Insomnia thread. It's fun to know there are others up at this hour.
There are three bags of Halloween candy down stairs, and I'm so tempted to go break one open.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That was weird. I was in the middle of posting over an hour ago and my computer seized and I had to do all these updates that took over an hour! I lost my post. ![]() Anyway, now I'm wide awake and gonna post some more in a few threads before hitting the hay. You into that Halloween candy yet? : ) |

Wow! Cool!
![]() Looks like you've got a super collection there, Cam! Do you mind if I call you Cam, for short? I used to have a friend named Cameron but everyone just called him Cam. Let me know if it's cool... Your plants all look fantastic and having them inside will surely brighten up your winter. Thanks for sharing with us. Hope Y'all are having a great morning. ![]() : ) |

Cool that you use a mister and humidifier on your plants, Cam. Certain people have made fun of me for misting my plants.
Not mentioning any names though... BOB!!! ![]() I bet your problems with spider mites are minimal or non-existent from keeping a moist atmosphere? I'm sure it was a lot of work to bring them all inside. I bring mine in over time...a few plants each day. This way it's easier. Jack, don't think I've forgot about you! Where is that deleted post? ![]() : ) Last edited by The Hollyberry Lady : 10-28-2010 at 10:15 AM. Reason: damn spelling!!! |

I know people always say that its just temporary solution, but to me its better than nothing lol. I have always misted my plants. I bought a humidifier to make things easier and I have to admit its really useful, I need to buy another one.
Luckily I've never seen spider mites on my plants, but I have had a problem with mealybugs, but since I have my humidifier I havent seen any pests. I need to buy some insecticidal soap too just in case I have any surprises lol. I wanted to bring mine in little by little but this frost advisory just popped up really quick, and I check the weather forecast several times a day lol |

Cool that I can call ya Cam, Cam!
Thanks for letting me know. I figured as much.I think it's totally cool that you mist your plants! If you showered them once a week with a hard spray of water, you'd never see another bug again and wouldn't ever have to put out for insecticidal soaps nor any other expensive pest preventative spray again. I haven't for years. ![]() You shoud have started bringing in your plants a little earlier instead of waiting so late...but I've been known to do the same some years. Hard frost and snow is just days away for us. ![]() Jack, I'm waiting... : ) |

Yeah I was wanting to bring them in earlier but its been so warm lately. The day before yesterday it was 88 and I saw that it was going to be in the 40s but today they just issued the frost advisory. Last year I was able to keep my outside in November without having to worry about a frost or freeze.

Fine Jack...be a snob!!!
![]() Yeah Cam, heavy frost and snowfall are expected here shortly. So looking forward... ![]() Wish winter could just skip over us this year, and every year. We really get hit with a whack of snow, plus we are famous for tons of freezing rain! ![]() Have a good day, Everyone...even you Jack (snob)!!! ![]() : ) |

You surprised me that you like winter the most. I'm in Georgia. We get very little, if any, snow here. But it's still too cold for me. The picture you posted earlier: Do you know the name of the plant in the lower left, the one that has long and skinny leaves? I have one of those, kept indoors, for many years now but can never keep it happy. The pot is too heavy for me and normally I'd keep it indoors. How do you take care of it during the cold season? Does yours get a lot of lights? Rae

Yeah, Sherryberry, I was spending some quality time at the annual university festivities that take place every year by this time, so sorry for not letting you know how I was spending this quality time, there was no computer or net connection.
![]() How about you. Been to the grocery store lately? ![]()

Hi Rae. I like seeing the snow, its kind of rare here too but I like the cold better than the Texas heat. That one is Dracenea Marginata. I have 2 pots with 3 plants in each. This is actually the second one I've grown. The first one didnt get enough light. I have the variegated one that looks similar and I just have it in a bright room and let it dry out between waterings. I have the current ones by a south facing window. I had a friend that had one that was several feet tall and she put it outside every summer. I find them a little hard to keep alive but hopefully with more light these should do better

Thanks Cory! Its a croton. It was in shade this year so the colors arent as brilliant. I've grown them for 3 years now. I've grown several before but they never seem to make it. But these have been so hardy for some reason
