I'm enjoying the cooler weather too Zac. We are under a freeze warning here, but I dont think it will get that cold. I covered my plants just in case

End of the growing season is a hard road to hoe when you are a tropical gardener in a temperate climate.
It took almost a week but the job is through.Everything is inside even those 4- 200+ lb. banana trees that were 12''-13'' in diameter at the base. . . They were a bit%h. I'll be glad to get a greenhouse. Hope everybody has a great weekend. Like your comment Jack Daw... wish I could teach my plants to type! HAPPY GARDENING! LATER! |

It was 4 degrees Celsius this morning, and though I can't speak for the plants in my yard, I loved it.

Yup, snow and cold weather sure puts me in the mood for cuddling with my boyfriend
...he'll be here later. ![]() Right now we're sitting at 1°C...32°F, but we'll be dropping even lower as the night wears on. How's everyone's Friday going so far? ![]() I just finished some salad with pumpkin seeds, whole cranberries, and feta cheese in it, a little while ago. Mmmmmmm, it was so good. Zac, did you see that pup on my plant you gave me? Totally cool, eh? I hope that thing flowers for me next year! It's one amazing plant. I think you commented in the thread but I'll check later...![]() Hope you guys are having a good night... : ) |

I'm NOT having a good night... Computer Science labs are extremely difficult when then resources your professor and TAs give you don't work. >:|
Your salad sounds scrumb-didly-umptious, can't say I ate as healthily. ![]() Oh, yes i did see it and comment! ![]() |

Well, I gotta try and figure out this program for starters, haha, then some other homework, but nothing too serious. I might tear into my truck some more and try to fix a fuse box issue to fix my radio.
![]() Plant-wise, I might piece together a cage to fill with leaves later when the trees in the front yard go dormant. I'm planning on using all my banana leaves for a huge cookout when the time comes; our first experiment with wrapped fish was THE best cooked fish I ever had. Basically, chillin' at home, just the same. ![]() |

Mmmmm, that's sounds so good Zac! I haven't tried using my banana leaves in cooking yet but likely will next year.
I have tons of plants to shower tomorrow morning...likely take me an hour or so. Gotta run a few errands tomorrow too but nothing serious. I just hope if we do get snow, it's just flurries, and they're not here to stay quite yet. I hate snow too because it puts an end to my cycling. ![]() Here's why I no longer ride the city bus... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I heard it might not be too bad of a winter, but they've "predicted" that before and it was baloney. Guess we'll see soon enough... : ) |

Ahhahahahah! I've seen somethings in/on public transportation, but this takes the cake! The look on their faces is just... i don't even...
![]() How does snow end your cycling, you don't have all-terrain tires? Weather predictions should only be listened to if you're also crazy enough to visit a psychic, because they two are equally composed of non-sense. "You'll just get a drizzle tonight" can mean a tornado is on the way, and "Lite showers for the rest of the week" has meant a constant, week-long downpour of lions and bears. We can sometimes go through all four seasons in a single day down here. ![]() |

LoL, Zac!
![]() Nope, you'll never catch me riding in the snow...no matter what tires they try to sell me! ![]() Yup, our weather is the same here too Zac...summer in the morning & winter by mid afternoon! It's just ridiculous. I just look outside now, instead of checking the weather...it's far more accurate. If that honestly happened to me on a bus...and some guy belly bopped me ... I'd fricken flip out! He'd be running the other way if he did that to me! So Zac, what banana plants are you growing now? Cam, you still up? ![]() : ) |

![]() But I guess you will have to go trhough the hugging, cuddling, kissing, petting... and other forms until you get to what I meant. But, just because I care for you, I fear that you won't make it in time this winter and that cuddling phase will just be too long for any warm effect to be appreciated. ![]() Btw. it's 72/55F here (day and night). A new, never broken record. From my own experience, the warmer it gets before the winter, the more drastic winter will come after that. Sheesh. Went out, enjoyed the weather though...

Very cool, Zac! I hope you know you are welcome to pups from my banana plants anytime you want...just ask. I think you said you didn't want too many more though?
I tried some of your Loquat jam and mint-chocolate tea again recently Zac....totally delicious! I even shared some with my mom and she enjoyed too. Now Jack, you know I cannot discuss these personal matters in a public post! ![]() Besides that, I never kiss & tell. ![]() You better be careful though, Mr. Daw, because my boyfriend sometimes reads these threads and he might have to threaten to kick your Salsa-dancing, Slovakian arse!!! Teasing, of course Jack, but subtlety is sure not your best quality. Then again, it hasn't always been mine either! ![]() However, let's keep the private things that I may or may not be doing with my boyfriend, out of this thread, shall we? I thought you would agree. ![]() Alrighty then, changing the subject to something more pg13... So how's everyone's weekend going? Mine's going ok, and no snow yet! Yipppeee! As a matter of fact I was out cycling this morning, in the sunshine! Took some more shots of my Beautyberry shrub today as well... ![]() I'm kind of excited because my girlfriend is dropping me off some apples from the orchard today!!!! Yippeeeeeee...it's apple time again! ![]() "Mutsu" apples are my most favorite! They're a pale yellow-ish green color with a blush of red on one side. To say they are sweet & delicious, is putting it mildly. They are just fantastically superb and I can't wait to get some! Here's what a "Mutsu" apple looks like... ![]() Anyone else get some good apples, this season? What's your favorite kind? By the way Cameron, I took a shot of my "Caerulea" passiflora vine and how it looks today... ![]() It's still surviving our frosty temps but I'm bringing it into the sunporch tonight. You'll be getting seeds from me for this type. : ) Hope everyone's having a great weekend! ![]() Gotta go for a bit but be back later... ![]() : ) |

Hi Cam!
![]() Yeah the "Caerulea" seeds take about three weeks to a month, to pop. If they don't germinate however, I'll be sending you some of my fresh seeds. Wonder what's up with your "Incense" plant? Sucks it's not working out for ya. ![]() Here's a shot of one of my Holly shrubs. This one put on quite a bit of growth this year for such an extremely young shrub. You can see part of one of my Beautyberry shrubs as well... ![]() I'll be around tonight if anyone wants to pop in and say 'hi'... : ) |

Thanks Sherry. The leaves on my Incense are turning yellow. I really hope it makes it. I'm going to look for some other plants next year. I saw an online nursery that had a lot of varieties and free shipping so I may try them next year.

Describe the conditions your Incense vine is in, Cam? Is it a seed-grown vine and how old is it?
Have you ever fertilized it? : ) |
