Ok but anyone who's having trouble sleeping should watch this video. It was sent to me as part of a Halloween collection...

Yeah Drew, you mentioned something about exercise in an earlier post and getting at least 20 minutes a day...

Check out my bike in some earlier posts in this thread...I'm totally into cycling and get more than 20 minutes a day. Exercise is good for the mind as well as the body.

Anyway, it's before midnight so it's still kinda early yet...

Ehm, university, ehm.

Btw. did you notice how cold it gets here? 4 nights in a row with a frost (and not just light frost, regular frost), -2C and once even -3C. It's gonna be a damn cold winter...

Hiya Re: Insomnia Thread...

Woops, I think we were posting at the same time Jack! Plus you sent that pm and this scare the-hell-out-of -you-in-the-middle-of-the-night window pops up and notifies you. I'll say! I nearly jumped off my chair!

Anyway, too funny about implying people would think I'm a granny because I shop a lot at the grocery store!

I go to enough University parties to know all about the goings-ons, Jack! You haven't got me fooled for a minute.

So you're flattered I thought you were elderly?! Just wait until you really are! My grandmother gets downright pissed off if anyone refers to her as elderly...even though she's 82!!!

Glad you finally replied...or people would begin to think you were an imaginary friend!

Good Lord, I hope that's not what insomnia leads to...imaginary friends!

Yes Jack, that's pretty cold where you are! We're currently sitting at 15°C...59°F! Kinda mild for us this time of year but I'm not complaining.

We all know what's coming, don't we?! Shhhhhhhh....don't say it!

Hiya Re: Insomnia Thread...

Thanks Penny!

You gotta check out the Halloween thread as well...

All-Hallows-Eve!!! (Halloween)

Jack, did you fall back asleep?!

So yeah, this is really just a conversation thread for folks who are bored and just wanna chat. Anyone can feel free to interject and join in the conversation anytime. Just cut me off in mid-sentence and say hello, oh fellow Night Hawks...

I used to belong to another site where people chatted in conversation threads all the time, but now it's no longer allowed, due to the condensing of a workload on the part of an idiot!

Nevermind!

Anyway, I am doing some garden chores around here today and showering a few banana plants...

What are you doing with your Basjoo, Penny, over the winter?

Feel free to discuss it and show shots in this thread...

Growing 'Musa Basjoo' in London, Ontario, Canada...

Just be sure to keep it showered regularily indoors over the winter, or spider mites will take it down!

I said at the uni, not at the party.
I, pardon me for saying it like this, don't have the time to party if I'm to master what I want to master.
It's like 1 happening (disco, meetings, no parties ,...)/month.

Really. I meant like lunch break, breaks between lectures, during lectures...

You know, we are kids from the East, there are other bars for us to jump over than in the west. Sure, there are people who party a lot etc, but generally, they are being reduced every semester... Until the iron core of the really studying (and best) prevails. (you know, the scale is like this (from the least working to the most working) - USA, GB, France, Germany, Italy, CET, Russia/India, China...) the more to the east you go, the more work and jumping you will have to do. That's a fact (from my discussion with friends and people who have actually tried the East and the West).

Hiya Re: Insomnia Thread...

I hear ya Jack...and I also have a University education, but half the time here, campus is no different than the parties! At least for the insincere bunch, that is. Usually ones whose rich parents are paying their way...in my case it was my rich grandparents!

In fact, one degree program I was looking to get into a few years back, was actually encouraging people well into their 30's to apply. It was said to me in no uncertain terms by the school program counsellor when I went to inquire, in these exact words...

"We are looking for people who are in their 30's and through their 20's bullsh*t"!!!

The program was so gruelling that you do nothing but eat, sleep, and drink it.

Due to some family obligations I would have been unable to focus 100% on the courses at the time, although my grades would have granted me acceptance. Apparently halfway through certain programs, it's not uncommon for students to drop out...even if it means losing out on half of their tuition fees!

Pretty wild.

Too funny, Ante!

You laugh all you want, you & Jack, but the grocery stores here have some pretty hot single people roaming through the isles!

So, who will be up late tonight...

Our schools are paid by the government per head, each student is financed for 3 years in Bc (Bc=Bachelor = BSc) and then 2 years Ing (Ingenieur = MSc) degree. You get paid for studying for the PhD (~250€/month). (there goes the "college loan" (which by the way is a pretty frick*ng ***) or whatever nonsense you in the USA and Canada have...)

If you drop out of some year (bad marks, didn't manage to collect enough credits... you pay for anyting that is above those 3+2 years, so it's not about rich parents/grandparents here, not like this).

Yeah, isles, right.
Your possible future husband, holly...

Just to conclude: degrees from economy, law, management... aren't considered very serious here. Those types of schools are commonly nicknamed "the most difficult high schools" or "the tram schools" (unless you get hit by a tram and die, you will eventually get the degree, no matter the effort).

Hiya Re: Insomnia Thread...

Hell no, Mr. Daw!

Why would I go for this...

When I could have this...

And that's not even his Halloween costume...it's just his everyday attire! I told you there were some hot looking numbers at the store!

Well Jack...

"Fricking Nonsense"? Are you making fun of the way us Canadians do things?

I think I'll let that one slide...for now.

There are employers here that will also pay for continuing education and my one friend (an idiot) was paid by her job to complete a course that would have given her a promotion. She had to pay for the course initially but they would reimburse her later if she finished and passed it...

She completed it but failed!

Needless to say she had to pay for the course herself and got demoted! She doesn't work there anymore now. Wonder why?...bet you're thinking!

Bet too this is what you see in your grocery stores, Jack...

Not at all. Diversity offers richness, but I guess, if I had to choose, I wouldn't go abroad under these terms (and I was thinking about going abroad some years ago...).
It's just difficult to comprehend, sorry. To indebt those, who are supposed to pay off the current Canada's debt... let's really not go that deep into that.

Good nite!

Good grief Jack, let's take your suggestion and not get into that here!

No Politics nor Religion welcome in this thread because it'll just cause way too many arguments and hurt feelings.

I thought this could be a more lighthearted conversation thread for people who just wanna shoot the sh*t.

Cool that you were considering studying abroad. I've known friends who did that.

Hi Cory!

Maybe I shouldn't have said "No Politics nor Religion" ...you guys can discuss whatever you want...I just won't be commenting on those topics.

Feel free to rave on, Jack!

Glad you like the idea, Cory. Me too. I thought it was a good way to be a little more friendly and get to know members better. I don't have to be here necessarily for you guys to chat though so feel free anytime.

I really am planning to get to bed soon but having trouble winding down.

Snow pics, Cory? Post away...

Gawd I love this picture...
