Insomnia Thread...

I'm not really bored but just not tired yet. Thinking of getting some strawberry yogurt because I'm kinda hungry now.


Not sure what to do tomorrow but hoping to get a few plants showered and fed. My Super Dwarf Cavendish sent up a third pup today! Do you have one of them, Zac? If not I could send you one of them along with the Orinoco in Spring.


Janan recently sent me some very cool succulents and here they are...









Your pink variegated one is still doing well Zac, but slower growing in Winter. No doubt in Spring it'll grow beautifully. Did you say it will produce yellow flowers? I forget...

The green white AND pink one? No, I don't think it flowers.

The one which flowered for me is similar to your string of pearls, but with ovular leafs. The one in the front of this cup:



Ha! That energizer commercial reminds me of some nanotech articles I used for a paper I had to write not long ago. Hopefully in the next few years, the improvements in battery capacity, power, and life will make energy a heck of a lot cheaper and safer.

Yeah, you shared that one with me too Zac, and it prduces small little pink lily-like flowers that are adorable.


I sure like it that my new digital camera runs on a re-chargeable lithium battery instead of those double AA kind. I was constantly running to the store for them. Now I just plug the charger into the wall for the night.


Think my battery is nearly dead...I better charge it tonight so I can take some shots tomorrow. Hope it's sunny out.


I seriously gotta get some sleep because it's super late here now. Hope you have a good rest of the night Zac. Try to get some sleep.

This is my Roger Meyer Dragon Fruit cutting that rooted and grew a new branch. Now there's roots forming on the new branch...





I'll send ya a piece in Spring if you want.

On a positive note, I'm getting a dwarf meyer lemon for christmas. This time I'm not going to try and kill it :P I killed the one I got last year.

Tom take a look at this lemon tree I took shots of in San Antonio this weekend!





I don't know what kind it is but the lemons were grapefruit sized. I was shooting down the trunk which was really thick, and I was on a bridge. A Ponderosa maybe? All the fruit was picked off as far as could be reached from the bridge, but you can see what is on it out over the river.

No need to drool Tom...I see that dragon fruit wants to spread all over the place and it roots constantly so it will be easy to share a piece with you in Spring. No big deal.


So what are you guys up to tonight? I've been googling some information about how to care for an Agave and found out they don't like to be overwatered, or they can rot!


I guess they take 15 years to flower and are often referred to as 'century plant'.


Looking so forward to watching mine grow...

I really need to get to sleep early tonight too. I didn't get much sleep at all this weekend in a strange bed. It hard enough to fall asleep on my own.

I have a huge thing for colorful and unique succulents so you couldn't have set me up with better cuttings than you did.


Yes, I totally know what you mean about having a hard enough time getting to sleep in your own bed...let alone someone else's!


I can lay awake the whole night in a hotel room or at a friend's place even. No fun.


Glad you liked my video Janan. I might make another one soon. I want to make the text bigger next time though.

Hi everyone.
Zac I stayed up and looked at the eclipse for a few minutes. It was so cool because I have never seen one before. I got an amaryllis bulb today from Lowe's they are all 60% off so it was only $3.99. I wish I could have gotten more LOL. The one I got was 'Apple Blossom' I also have one called 'Minerva' hopefully i'll get flowers but if i dont, there is always next year

I have a terrible headache and trying to get rid of it. Tried taking something for it earlier but it didn't help much because it's back. I'm overtired and exhausted though so I might go to bed early tonight.


So, did you get those car parts you ordered Tom?


Janan, how are you doing girl? I've been thinking about you with so many of your cuttings around me. They're all doing just great, by the way.


Cam, so cool about your new "apple blossom" amaryllis bulb! Hope it does well for you. Have you got it potted up yet? I have an amaryllis called "charisma" and it's tri-colored. It develops baby bulblets after a couple years that grow off the main bulb.

Parts came in today. I have to schedule an apointment to have them installed. Maybe I'll go for next friday. The earliest the guy I called could do it would be tuesday or wed.

Yeah Tom, they're probably real busy on account of Christmas, like everywhere else. Good you got the parts though.


Unfortunately, I'm too tired to stay on much longer and may be hitting the hay even earlier than I planned. I still have a headache too.
