Insomnia Thread...

Well Sherry I'm growing the Black Pearl, red and yellow cayenne, bird pepper, fish pepper, Hungarian sweet banana pepper, the Masquerade and the Firecracker peppers. So that's a lot lol. I have all of my plants in a mostly sunny area on my porch. Some of the peppers are about an inch tall. I had to water them today because its been windy and dry.

Wow Cam...you're growing some cool peppers!!! I'm so glad you are growing "Masquerade"!!!


There are no words for that one, except...AWESOME!


You'll absolutely love the Fire Cracker too. I'll be sending you some others later so you can start a few in mid-summer to bring indoors for a Fall and Winter harvest!


Can't wait for your pepper plants to really take off for you. They don't take long.


I was noticing my 4 "Explosive Amber" seedlings tonight and how black they are becoming. Kind of blurry but check 'em out...

Yes it is quite a few peppers lol. I would be happy to grow more types. I'll just have to make room for them in winter lol. I dont want another repeat of last year. I like the explosive Amber alot. Its so different

Yeah, that 'explosive amber' one is way cool. Everyone loves it and wants it. One little dwarf plant packs on quite an impressive crop so I'll soon have tons of seeds again. I shared so many of them that my suppy just got low, so I'm growing lots more this season.

Yeah we went for lunch and then shopping for some new garden pots and soil...for my mom's balcony. It was a beautiful day.


I think I figured out why my marble pepper plant wasn't setting as many fruits as it should have been, JaNan...if you ever return to us.


Time will tell but I think I've solved the mystery. I'll let you know when you come back...


Not sure how late I'll be up until tonight because I'm not tired yet. I was just going to check out some of my dried chocolate mint and see how it's doing. The orange mint cuttings have already rooted!


I did some researching about orange mint and it said it smells like Earl Grey tea and orange Bergamot. That is what it smells like, and now that I know what it is, I like it. I love Earl Grey tea.


Mint cuttings root super fast. I'm gonna root the tips of my orange cuttings for Greg because he's gonna share his apple mint with me.

Thats so nice that you did that for your mom. I've never rooted mints from cuttings before. I want to dig up some bee balm a friend is trying to get rid of. I wonder if i could take cuttings just in case the plants dont make it?

Yup, you sure can take cuttings...and they'll root easily too, Cam.


Mint is just awesome...when it's in pots.


I'm a huge tea drinker, so that's why I like it so much. If you like the smell of Earl Grey tea and orange bergamot, you'll like the 'orange mint'. It's really growing on me (no pun intended ) now that the scent has been indentified.


Wow, that little chocolate mint shoot is completely dried and the smell is even more intense! I gotta taste some in a minute. I think I'm in love with this plant. it's growing so nicely in my window and I bought a cute chocolate colored pot for it.The scent is just so rich and chocolately.

I'm chewing on a dried chocolate mint leaf and wow, it it ever an intense chocolate mint flavor...moreso than when it's fresh. It freshens your breath and leaves a pleasant aftertaste.


Oh I am really going to love this stuff. I have it in my south window so it can grow fast and I can snip tons of branches over and over again. It'll just keep growing back again and again. I wonder if the seeds are true.

Sherry have you had any experience growing bee balm? I had a few plants a couple of years ago but they ended up dying eventually

When you refer to bee balm Cam, do you mean lemon balm? Here, some people call lemon balm, 'bee balm'.

I do that alot lol. I will send a link from Davesgarden. It does smell like some type of mint, I actually like its scent. I think its used in tea also but the flowers are gorgeous. It can become invasive though. I should have collected the seedheads from my mom's friend. She has several plants in her garden and they are taking over.

Wow, very cool Cam. The flowers sure are beautiful. Herb flowers can be so pretty.


Maybe next time you'll remember to save some seeds for us. I enjoy collecting seeds from plants and do it even with my indoor plants too. I rarely have to re-purchase the same seeds twice because I always collect more seeds from my growings. It's easy and fun...and
cheap.


So yeah, I was gonna go to bed but that chocolate mint was so good, I got excited about the possibilities of what I could use it in. Apparently it's suggested to serve the chocolate and orange mint together so I thought of making a tea with them both together! Mmmmmmm.

Good morning Sherry. I'm definitely going to save some seeds, but my mom's friend told me she wanted me to get rid of all of her bee balm so I can have as many as I want which is well over 20 plants. The bee balm is choking out her other plants and some of the bee balm is a foot tall or more.
