Thank you Rik, that is exactly, what I was looking for and could not find out from "Mr Google".
I have saved your post and stored it away for future reference, even before thanking you with this post.
Best,
Olaf

Here we are in the evening of day 5 and most of the seed varieties have sprouted. Gotta love that bottom heat!

Hi Sherry,

I am wondering if you still have not received the Castor Bean seeds? It has been 15 days now. Maybe
somebody has heard the seeds rattle around in that little box, I sent them in and though (hoped?) they
were drugs?

Would you like me to send you a replacement?

Best,
Olaf

Hiya Re: What'cha got sprouting? (other plants)

Let's just wait and see if they arrive this week, Olaf. I've never not received someone's seeds before so there shouldn't be a problem. The post office knows what's inside the envelope and they'll know it's not drugs! Too funny though.

Our mail service is slow but I'll let you know when they show...

Okay, Sherry, I have waited long enough, This afternoon I received an email, confirming that a DVD,
which I had sent last Thursday to a friend in Germany, arrived there on Tuesday. That is in 5 days (minus
9 hours time zone differential).

I sent the seeds 18 days ago. Not even Canada Post can be that slow. Therefore 1 hour after
receiving that email, I had already wrapped - this time guaranteed not to rattle - and mailed 10 more
seeds for you.

You know, about 50 years ago I worked in Iran, while still headquartered in Germany. Any letters mailed
from Teheran arrived in cities with international airports in Germany on the second day after mailing and
in small towns on the third day; - just like clock work. And that was before everything got “streamlined”
with computers and postal codes and such.

Maybe we should farm out some of our postmasters to Iran for a while, so they can learn how it is done.
Best,
Olaf

When I send seed packets to Canada, I use a USPS flat-rate Intl envelope. I also put a label on it that says:
GARDEN SEEDS
MAY BE OPENED FOR
AGRICULTURAL INSPECTION.
It always takes 2-3 days unless going to some far-flung corner of Saskatchewan. Every packet has been delivered. Live plants though, is another story.

Hiya Re: What'cha got sprouting? (other plants)

Olaf I wish you had waited, or at least double checked with me to make sure you had the correct address.

In all my years of exchanging seeds, I've never flat out not received someone's seeds before. I'm more inclined to believe that perhaps the address was incorrect.

You really don't need to do anything special to send seeds to Canada and there's no need to write what's inside either. It's all fine and they will get here with no problems.

Thanks for sending more though, Olaf. Nice of you.

Sherry, I have copied and pasted (both times) your address straight from your PM. You can check,
if it was correct in the PM you sent me.

Thank you Richard, that is excellent advice. However I was sending these seeds from Canada to Canada,
and such precautions should not be necessary, if no international borders are crossed
Best,
Olaf

Yup, I just checked and it's correct, Olaf.

I think I will get both envelopes in the end. Like I said, I've never ever not received someone's seeds before so you'd be a first.

Those precautions are not necessary even when mailing internationally, as I've exchanged seeds with people all over the world and folks just sent things the standard way without doing anything special, so don't worry about that.

I've always just mailed things to other countries the standard way for the most part too, except when I mail express post. I've never had any problems with people not getting my seeds, nor me not receiving theirs.
