![]() In response to Taylor's comments: I believe you are confusing the term "stole" with long term borrowing arrangement, where-in they can have it back, should it not work out, and plant rescue, where-in one is compelled, and indeed required to save a plant from future eradication and/or neglect.Only conditional on leaving more than you took, IMHO!

![]() I got two new plants yesterday
Canna warscewiczii It has purple streaked, shining foliage, blackish stems & cherry red tubular blooms. This (non-hybrid) species from Costa Rica & Brazil flowers from Spring to frost & maintains a neat look as the flowers fall naturally from the spikes. Grow in rich soil & does well in a container. To 6’ tall and 3’ across. Attracts hummers. Gladiolus alatus This is a South African bulb . The 6-8” flower spikes hold large orange and green marked flowers. Very similar to Gladiolus equitans but has more slender foliage. The flowers are fragrant. Spring blooming. Grows in sandy soil so would probably be best grown in a pot with some extra sand added to the soil. Should be allowed to go dry in summer during dormant period.. Here is the Gladiolus alatus Greg Last edited by cherokee_greg : 02-10-2010 at 03:44 PM. |

![]() Today I planted cherry tomato plants. Wanted to get them in before we got any more rain. Hope that gives them a boost.
Layed down plastic in the bed to try to cut back on the weeds. Hope it will also hold in the moisture as the weather gets warmer. Pretty green table covering from last years St. Patty's Day party. Shoot! I need to block the drip from the overhang of the house. Looked right at it today and meant to do that. Better get them covered before they get dripped on. Going all cherry this year. They are easier to share. ![]() |

![]() I don't use pesticides either, but it's really easy to make a sticky sheet of paper scented with some orange flavor (I can't remember the proper E food additive) and they will never wanna go to eat your pomes. All they will have to solve is how to get off the paper.

![]() I started a bunch of peppers today--on a wet paper towel on a saucer covered with plastic wrap--when they sprout, I will transfer them to potting soil-- it seems like I get better germination this way. I have jalapenos, giant marconi, red habanero, carribean red habanero, thia pepper, bolivian rainbow.
Last week, I planted african daisies, moss rose, and marigolds--they have all sprouted. Tomato plants have been moved to individual pots--Arkansas Travler, Belgian Giant, Black Plum, Better Boy. |
