What do you call these pineapple offshots in English? The proper term is not "pups", right?

On top of the fruit (Crown), below the crown but above the ground (Slip), attached to the plant below the soil surface (pup).

Cold Re: S. Fl. Pineapples in Fruit

I have tc of Cayenne and Sugarloaf,I had 9 now I have 4...
I love pineapples in smoothies.
I traded 3 for blue java locally from ryboyer.
Mine are all small but looking for other types if anyone has anything available.
I wanna be like NANAMAN with 150 plants.

At $1 apiece from AgriStarts, you might as well buy a flat or two.

Yeah, go for it! I'm totally jealous. I have several dozen growing here but it seems to take 24 to 36 months to fruit in my microclimate.

Don't worry I'm jealous to,I wish I could live anywhere close to Napa valley,
to better the odds of a internship as winemaker/distiller both as hobbies.

Cool Re: S. Fl. Pineapples in Fruit

Has anyone ever tried planting the seeds? If so, how do you get them to germinate? I had one give me a small pineapple last winter. I saved and planted the seeds from it, but nothing happened. Also, It took almost 6 months for the top to root. That seems like a long time.

We are planning to begin TC production soon, not sure when any will be available. I don't know of other sources for those varieties.

What is the min pot size i need (in gallons) to fruit a pineapple? I have a plant that is a few years old, that could fruit in the next year or so, but i think it needs to be in a bigger pot (i see roots coming out the bottom)...
