Looking good HBL! If you can keep it growing overwinter and not bonsai it , it should flower for you next year.

Oh I like that!!!! That is a succulent too isn't it?

I know my hoya and rubber trees are considered succulents. I haven't even started taking pictures of those. ~J

Janan, I'm not too sure what it is but now that you've mentioned it could be a succulent, it makes it even more intriguing to me!

Someone from California sent me the cuttings and I'd be more than happy to share some with you also. I shared them with Bob too and I think he's got them growing.

I will tell you Janan, that it's a poisonous plant...but then so is Poinsettia! Just be careful with it if you've got pets that like to chew leaves. Fortunately for me, Henry will only chew leaves if I offer them to him or if put him on a banana leaf and encourage him to take a bite.

Even still I have my devil's backbone cuttings that have now grown into a plant, in the bedroom behind the curtains, competely out of his reach.

I just googled Devil's Backbone (Pedilanthus Tithymaloides)...

Pedilanthus tithymaloides, Devil's backbone, Zigzag plant, Jacob's ladder - TopTropicals.com, rare plants for home and garden

A lot of our most beautiful plants are poisonous, unfortunately.

Poisonous House Plants

That site has a lot of good information listed there - but they don't even come close to listing everything. Devil's backbone is also a nickname for mother of thousands. (They show a picture of it there)

My cat's chew on plants ever so often. but they seem to only like my ponytail palms, or airplane (spider) plants, the flowing type. I have bought cat grass for them, but they don't chew on it. (shrug) ~J

Great site Janan!

Ok there must be different kinds because mine's not like that one in the picture...although I wish it was!

In Spring when I mail you some wonderful goodies, I'll be sure to send you some snippets. It's cold hardy too and can easily stand an open winter window! Glad you kinda like it...me too.

I think you sent me a piece of your hoya Janan...but the cutting didn't make it on account of the cold.

Was it one that would've produced those pretty dainty flowers that look like they're made of wax?! I love them.

Yes, the hoya makes the dainty little waxy looking flowers. They are succulents too. Sorry it didn't make it.

It's just nicknames, like all our bananas have different ones in different places.

I haven't seen too many plants that I don't like. Hmmmm, that might be worth thinking about. What plants do you dislike? I don't like poison ivy or poison oak, because I am allergic to it. Though I must admit I like the "look" of poison ivy and the colors it turns in the fall. I don't like crab grass I guess. Oh, I don't like bull nettle, or other nettles. They hurt when they sting and I have been stung by them many times. I have read that nettles make a good tea, though I haven't ever tried it that I am aware of. ~J

I used to think that lemon balm was a type of nettle but have since found out it isn't. It sure grows invasively like one though!

It's one of my most favorite herbs and when I thought it was a nettle, I too heard that nettle made excellent tea...to make a long story short, I've been making lemon balm tea for years now as a result. It's so tasty and delicious.

I don't like invasive plants...even if they're pretty. I like to keep them contained in pots so they don't go everywhere.

I also don't fussy plants...like them to be easy-going.

Also not a big fan of nursery plants unless they're above average.

I tried to get a hoya cutting once from someone I had previously shared many seeds with, but they blew me off and made excuses not to share so I took the hint.

Here's my Siam Ruby as of a few minutes ago. It's surprisingly red for this time of year...

Even the new leaf coming in is looking like it's going to be really red!

Thanks Bob!
