I don't know what happened because what I have came from Agristarts 5-6 years ago and matches the descriptors. The plant is about 12' tall has a hanging bunch and the bracts lift one at a time.

Thanks for the FHIA info. I have been looking at the descriptors and my plant seems to be too tall to be a true Goldfinger plant. Other things in the descriptors don't match. The hairless Peduncle on the Ind FHIA-01 and very hair 2mm of the Aus FHIA-01. Maybe it is a different FHIA plant. Maybe FHIA-18. I will have to look up that plant.

It's fairly common, most people just want to believe the name it came with is the correct name and they look for the descriptors that match. Don't waste your time searching for the descriptors that are a common match for many or most cultivars (6.3.12 - leaf color – GREEN), instead look for descriptors that set it apart (6.4.15 - male bud shape). The real FHIA-01 is very easy to identify by the male bud and for what it's worth the plants I've grown have all been about 8' to 9' tall.

Fhia-3!! (Supposedly) The photo doesn't really show how long the flower is but I'm surprised in comparison to my other varieties.

Double mahoi Bunch support?!?!??.......ain't nobody got time for dat
Hard to see but my first double bunch was on a "forked" pendicule the second one has two distinct pendicules. Last time I let it flower so as to make room for the other varieties I have starting immediately adjacent.

[quote=PR-Giants;258763]You are looking at this in a very scientific manner and you should be able to continue narrowing down the possibilities.

Thanks. I do love a good mystery. I took a look at the AAA classification Accession name "Williams" and the Peduncle was a match Very hairy, short hairs (similar to velvet touch). Is the Very hairy, short hairs velvet touch something that all AAA Species/Group have?

The male bud shape doesn't look the same as the pictures I took of my plant. I cut the bud off, so I can not do a comparison. The fruit shape is similar. The bunch is still hanging and the mat produces fruit every year. Next time I will take pictures that match the pictures in the Musa Germplasm Information System.

Thanks Susan

How tall is your FHIA 3 plant? The picture looks great. I have a baby (supposedly FHIA 3) growing in my yard too. If it gets that big I'm going to have to move it to a different location. Right now it is only 3 inches tall.

Just shy of 9' the flower on this plant is huge relative to its size.

My first Green Red. Sold to me at Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden as an Ele Ele. Almost 19 months to flower at about 14' high. Pretty fast for a shady spot and much happier than the Tall Red I have.

Common Hartón from TARS, I am really happy with this one so far.

Pretty sure this is Paggi from TARS, I have 3, the fruit from the other two was good.

Came to me as Jamaican Lacatan, most certainly is not Jamaican Lacatan. Resistant to Sigatoka, I thought it might be FHIA-1, but looking at the male flower it is most definitely not.

Saba P-Stem is probably 13-15 feet. The lowest hand on the bunch is hanging at about 10-11 feet. Like I said - this is a first time bloom from a tissue culture plant - both of them are not in full sun at all.

I separated a corm heavy pup from the saba and planted it in a full sun location to test the difference.

More pics of the bloom of "saba".

My Orinoco, I have had it for almost 2 years. Its about 10 to 11 feet tall. Yesterday, I think I spotted a flag leaf!! It has about 6 pups ranging from 5 feet to a foot tall.

what do you guys think? Is it or is it not?
