Red Tall

This flower is taking its time emerging and is driving me nuts. I am happy though that it has finally arrived.

Got back from a week in Key Largo and was surprised to see this on the Grand Nain. I have to duck under that leaning tree every time I walk off the back deck, and never saw any sign of a bloom coming before we left. Really have to duck now, the p-stem is at 6-1/2'.

This one I knew about, I saw the flower bud, but was not opened at all before we left. This in on my Dwarf Namwa (could be just Namwa, since the p-stem is at 11', but I was told it was the D). This is one of the trees that were leaning to the South-West and the wind storm a few weeks back pushed it and now they lean to the North-East

Guess all the rain over the last few weeks really helped. Both are going to need bracing to support them soon.

I am not sure if you are serious but I did not use weedkiller on it. It is supposed to be a dark red color. Btw I was standing on a ladder to get that shot.

KJ --- what symptoms are you looking for? If a grower does not do effective weed control to stop nutrient competition he's out of business.

I am concerned too about long term effects of glyphosate weeding. To weed whack I have to pull up all my irrigation emitters. Doable on a small scale only.

Funny thing about Bermys pic. Looks like the flower bud was masked and the fruit, open bracts and peduncle were spray painted. Just kidding Berm.

Pic with psuedostem, it is ragged due to winds damage suffered in TS Leslie.

Orinoco on the right and red on the left. I think its natural color is that deep red.

Well here is another sign that more water makes a huge difference. About 9 months ago I started putting in a lawn just on the other side of the fence from this Dwarf Brazilian. It now has the thickest pseudostem and biggest bunch of any DB I've grown. It has clearly benefitted from the months of regular watering of the lawn. The DB just a couple feet away from it is nowhere near as large. If I wasn't on catchment, I would water all my bananas this much!

This one also began blooming recently. Not sure what it is, maybe another Williams?
