Thumbs up Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?

I planted ginger and other ginger family plants, all are used in Thai cuisine. They grow very easily, only water and sunshine.

What a day, between the Ae Ae post which was going to be my only post. The hot wing challenge, subsequent gastrointestinal distress and walking around in a daze looking at the sky saying " Forgive me Montezuma... what have I done to offend you?"
Now I just got and planted the two biggest corms I've ever seen from Pete (Lagniappe) . The huge one is a Saba, the immensely huge mother of all corms is a Basjoo. If this wont survive with protection nothing will. Pete , I can't thank you enough.

Two weeks ago I planted my fist banana, a California Gold.

Wednesday, I 'rescued' a Dwarf Cavendish from the local grocery store florist. It was over watered and under potted.

Yesterday, the first bananas that I had ordered (a few days previous to planting my CA Gold) arrived.

So now I have a CA Gold in the ground and in pots I have:
Blue Java
Gran Nain
Dwarf Orinoco
Goldfinger
2 Dwarf Cavendish
Dwarf Namwah
.................
So, now I am the proud new addict of 8.

aaron

ps. if I can ever find the camera, I'll post pics. (we recently moved into this house and half of everything is still in some box...somewhere)

Just picked up a Musa Bordelon' Banana and a Musa Dwarf Cavindish from lowes they had broken leaves and pot was dry so I got them for 6.50 each maybe they will make it. Bordelon has three pups with in a little 8" pot so I stuck them in a bigger pot to try to nurse them back to health. pictures in gallery. Banana Gallery - cowboyup4christ Album

I planted one each of my Bordelon and Siam Ruby from Agri Starts; figured they were large enough and I want them to get in some good growth before the cold season starts. And did I mention that I planted a Burmese Blue, a Sikkim, an Ensete glaucum, and a Dwarf Orinoco? All thanks to Bob!

Just finished planting the big pups I got from NANANAMAN last year - Belle, SH3640 and the Manzano. The little Logee's Lady finger is next, as well as a much larger and healthier Grand Nain replacement. Also the recuperated contest pup, the Pisang Klotek.

With this heat, and my new 1" poly irrigation line, everything is taking off fast. Also lots of 8-2-12 and fresh manure compost. Good ol' summer - ribs on the BBQ tonight with copious beers and fresh corn.

Just another day in paradise - until the hurricanes!
