Got a huge 6 foot tall Ensete and planted it in the ground to the left of my saba and brugmansia (see the pic 2 posts below, its not in that pic but would be just to the left of the area that is in the pic). I'll take a pic of it soon! Im very excited to see how big it gets this year.
Any ideas how tall a 6 foot Ensete (3-4 foot psudeostem) will get by October with days in the 80s from May - September with 90s common in July and August? End of the growing season is usually early-mid November, lately it has been more like late November!

Planted a couple of decent sized sago palms someone dug up and took to the dump.
One has about a 3 1/2 ft trunk. We'll see if they make it. EDIT: 6/20/12 Both are still alive one has put off another row of fronds. I think they'll make it!

I would say it was me, but you live in another state. I dug one up and threw it away to make room for some pots.

These are the Pups I transplanted Saturday. There are 3 photos in the gallery showing the source of each type. The new Banana Bed is just outside my window on the North West corner of my house. This will give the plants morning shade, which seems to be working for the other patches and sun all afternoon. I used a mixture of potting soil, mushroom mulch and black cow. Because of a discussion I had with the nurseryman when I was purchasing the supplies, i ripped the plastic bags apart to line the trench before planting the pups. This will keep the nutrients available to the plants much longer, though I did puncture holes to prevent excessive moisture. I'll keep posting photos as my experiment continues... Bwahahaha! ![]()
