Quote:
Diet: Texas blind snakes most often eat ant larvae and pupae and termites, but they sometimes eat other insects and spiders. They always eat ant larvae and pupae whole, but they often refuse to eat the heads of termites and sometimes only chew the juices out of the back portion of the termite. Once in a while, a small owl known as a screech owl will swoop down to snatch a Texas blind snake and, keeping it alive, bring it back to its nest. There, the snake cleans out the nest by eating small invertebrates that might otherwise nibble on the owl. |

I grew a lemon tree from seed from a grocery store fruit for 2 years but I put it in a corner while taking plants outside and forgot it was there. When I saw it, it was dead from lack of water (probably thanks to the clay pot it was in)

3 boston ferns that I had in my basement under grow lights over the winter. Looked like crap so I got rid of them yesterday. Apprentley ferns need high humidity and arent the best houseplants. the fern I had in the kitchen did make it, it must have been more humid in my kitchen.

I killed an AEAE over the winter. Killed it to death. I thought vermiculite was a good sub for perlite. I Thought wrong. The mix stayed soggy for 2 weeks as my AEAE rotted away. I refuse to give up. I just repoted a new AEAE with a 2/3 palm/cactus soil, 1/3 perlite mix. I notice a significant improvement in drainage. I also used Humic acid to buffer the PH and put it under my Metal Halide light. I hope I have better luck this time.

DOs did not survive outside overwintering with hay and barrels second year in a row so I'll try digging them up and storing in the dark, inside the workshop this winter. I have back up pups in the house so am ok but would like to cut back as much as possible the amount of overwintering done in the house. I lost one type of EE and I don't know off hand the name of it. The kind that has those huge sword like leaves that stick up straight. They're my favorite so will buy another one and dig it up in the fall.
I also lost a patchouli plant that was 3 yrs old and had a slow two and a half year decline. Had bad luck with that one from the get-go. |

We had some seriously gusting winds from the South last night (of course it was still 76 @ midnight) but it snapped one of my Valecia Oranges stems (broke the tape too (I'm using reverse duct tape from now on!)) off @ the ground I surely hope it has some root power. I'm sure its nothing like the power of Corm :^)
