Ants in my plant, I really hate those ants. So I pour water on them. Did I kill them?

One mat of dwarf cavendish (3 mats is too much) and one mat of unknown nanas that were doing very poorly - gonna replace them with more tall reds!

My currently potted bananas all look sad. Misi Luki is definitely gone, Cardaba is touch and go and FHIA-18 is non-responsive. Come spring time it'll be time to start over.

I learned my frost lesson!

Two blind snakes that are invasive exotics in Florida, normally snakes are our friends but not these, I think. They were in the potted dwarf Namwa I was planting.

Is that a physical description or a character evaluation?

Sorry mjd, I'd feel bad too. What happened? Too cold? I know you went thru some 'stuff' & I hope you're OK now... maybe just a little neglect on the plants from the stress on you! Hope they all come back

My rubber tree plants have dropped half of their leaves. They look kind of scraggely but they did that last winter and came back to life in the spring when I put them back outside. Its probably from not enough light. Has anyone else had this problem?

One of my crotons in my greenhouse died, it was close to the vent and must have gotten a cold draft. Everything else in my greenhouse is fine though. Add more bubble wrap insulation inside my greenhouse today.

Basjoo #1, purchased last May. Never was a very vibrant plant.
After droopy leaves that curled up brown, a black cigar leaf, a bout of spider mites, I discovered black mushy parts on the pstem today , so I finally cut it back and put it to rest in a dark cool closet in hopes of starting over in the spring.

I have this product called 'N-sulate", its a frost fabric that I used this past cold snap to protect my smaller varieties (8 feet and below..), and it worked great!...I first tied up the leaves flush against the pseudostem and then double wrapped the entire plant from bottom up , mummy style. The temps dropped to 26 overnight and the next day I unwrapped and they were only slightly effected!....now if I could just figure a way to save my Sabas from the cold it would be great, but I had to settle for protecting the Corm and had to watch the surface growth melt!!

Today while planting a Thai Black, I found and killed a Blind snake. These are supposed to be "Invasive exotics." I realize they are exotic, not native to Florida, being of asian origins, but I must question their invasive qualities. They do fill a niche, and have predators that eat them here, so are they really invasive? Ooops, new thread needed, but probably of no interest here.
