Default Sumatrana X Cross second pot up

I've actually been growing it indoors, until this past week, where its been getting outside time. Except for slower growth, it's been thriving quite well as pampered houseplant.

Next year it will go outside full time in summer.

Zone 5, IA.

Hoping to get somewhere in South FL(Miami is my hometown) in the next few years, though. By that time, the banana plants will need their own U-haul.

How cold hardy are these? Didn't know if they could be cut back, mulched in cold zones(5&6)

Scott/Omaha

These are not cold hardy in 5 or 6. Just take inside when you would most other tropicals. I’m in zone 5 and mine overwinterd just fine, no stress at all. Thrived happily like any other house plant

Glad to hear yours is doing well

I actually have to repot mine again, having a major growth spurt now that yhe days are longer. She also has two pups now! Wohoo! I think they’re both sword suckers. They’re around 7 and 8 inches tall now. It’s fun watching them take turns at who’s going to be taller— one takes off, then when it slows down tge other quickly catches up. I’m just not sure if I should let them be or eventually separate from the mother. I will post pics soon .

The pups

Second picture is being a brat an uploaded sideways. :P

Is it fine to leave them with the mother plant? If not, what size should I remove them at ? I'm admittingly scared I'll mess up and kill the puppers or the mom if I attempt to remove them lol
