Update August 19, 2021

Patupi is now 102" and is putting out another cigar leaf! The height exceeds last year's mark by 10" and is in excess of the maximum height provided in the Wiki for this variety. I have staked the plant as can be seen in the photo as it has crashed out a couple times over the years due to hurricanes. The stake is 80" tall.

I have only had small pups (<1') of this variety make it across the winter as they are much easier to winterize.

I just hope my laziness doesn't get the better of me in November. There are a few I really want to get through the winter and the patupi is one of them.

Not to jack the thread, but yeah, that's my Florida Platinum. Its 9a hurricane and winter proof and is also capable of filling out a nice size bunch of bananas on four damaged leaves. Built like a brick sh!thouse. Its pretty much a new exclusive strain.

Heres mine I got from Akula.. by far the beefiest plant in my collection! This one has a 36 inch circumference at the base, and stays thick all the way up. I think Donalds may be even larger.

Update September 19, 2021

Yes! Hurrah! Finally!

Patupi flowered this week at a height of 114" or 9 1/2'!

The pics below are from today. The flower is kind of weird looking compared to other flowers. Another point of note is that the leaves of the plant shorten dramatically over about four leaf cycles from the biggest leaf before the flag leaf. I know this happens to some extent on other plants but this was the first time it was dramatically visible.

It took me three years to successfully flower this "short cycle" plant! Haha.

Next milestone is to count the days until harvest. I will start the count after the last female hand has been shown.
