![]() After two years finally got a Patupi delivered! Yeah! I know a lot of people have had problems with this plant but I think it has potential in zone 9a so had to take a crack at it! Will get it potted up tomorrow.
I got this pup from Ty Taylor and it looks like it is in fine condition so no complaints on delivery. I might kill it but its not Ty's fault! Haha. Wrapped up well and delivered live with green leaves so no complaints. Plan to push this snowflake hard this year to get a flower by the fall and bananas eaten by November! Clock is ticking!!!!!! |

![]() Awesome man! I’m glad the pup arrived ok! I’m so sorry the wait was so long! I know you will love it! Patupi is my all time favorite tasting Musa! I love them! Just be careful with watering until it is established.
Keep us updated Akula! Everyone else! I am almost caught up! Give me 2 weeks and you will see lots of banana plants for sale and a newsletter listing them.

![]() After a month of growing under controlled conditions i.e. outside during the day and in the warm garage at night I planted my patupi out into the main banana patch.
He has five leaves of various sizes and a new cigar leaf emerging. Overnight temps are now over 70F so should be safe. I will replant the patupi and some other new bananas into a new patch on the west side of my yard after I get my tomato harvest collected but for now I will squeeze them into the main patch. Growth was slow until I started overnighting in my warmer than average west facing garage vs. inside the house in the living room. Probably 80F vs. 72F made a big difference! Patupi really are cold sensitive!! Planted into the field today: Hanging with the big boys! |

Those big ones are so tall that when the sun moves west past the 12 o'clock position it shoots under the canopy which is on the east side. Patupi should get pretty good sun from about 1 pm till 8 pm during the Spring and Summer months. Hopefully it will be enough sun but not too much for Goldilocks! Haha. ![]() Thanks Hector!
The patupi started off a bit slow and I was worried but made some adjustments and he recovered quite well. Hope he makes a smooth transition to the patch. I've read that he is suppose to be a really fast grower so exciting to see how far along he will get this year and looking forward to collecting some pups to establish my east side banana patch. |

![]() Looking good! It will be slow until it hits 4’ or so. Then they blast off like a rocket! I just planted 26 new ones this past 2 weeks! Up close to 50 total in the greenhouse now! They at the star of my 5 year research plan!
Good news Is 50x20 is about how many pups I will have this fall! Hahaha. They pup a lot! My 2nd greenhouse that is being built this year will be 100% PNG dwarfs. Mostly Patupi.
