Bought a fully rooted Musa Nono and it certainly had less roots than expected.

I was expecting it to have roots and if it did I would have planted it in CCS.

This is the first tissue culture plantlet I've received that a third party did the transition from agar to a non-agar substrate. Normally a plantlet in agar is shipped in a little bag or test tube with an abundance of roots and the grower simply needs to rinse off the agar and acclimate a decent amount off the roots to have success.

Trusting the transition to a third party with their definition of "fully rooted" doesn't appear to have been a good decision on my part.

The photo below is of a tissue culture plantlet from USDA TARS that came in a little bag of agar. It was planted in CCS and quickly acclimated to full sun before the pseudostem reached the height of 3 quarters. The advantages of acclimating to full sun quickly is to avoid growing a long thin pseudostem that will fold in the slightest breeze and obviously it will grow faster with more sunlight.

Sounds about right and never saw one growing in moss either. Pretty sure I have never bought any type of plant growing in it. But it does hold moisture so that would explain it’s growing conditions as you suggested.

How exciting! Was this also from Lydia? I purchased one and it came with few roots in spaghnum moss, I quickly moved it to Fluval.

How's your Florida and variegated Dwarf Namwa looking?

If they're looking good you should consider getting a variegated non Dwarf Namwa. The yellow variegation with these types are much brighter.

Both doing fantastic so far. The dwarf

was mad as soon as i potted it and leaves dropped. I cut back all the leaves. Have one new one and another on the way. The florida is growing even faster. You have variegated non Dwarf Namwa available?

I like to get them established in pots before putting in the ground. I added burlap to the plastic pot because they just get baked in the az sun. Ill probably wait till sept to put in the ground once the 115 summer weather is gone. I did a test with a couple pots, one burlap one not. I haven't tried this myself yet but maybe it can work for you. Paint the outside of your pot white. Or keep one side white and the other dark. That way you can face it depending on how much heat you want. Glad that pon is working out for you.

Pot Skirts work great or Pot Kilts depending on it's pronouns.

I have noticed the variegation seems to fade after a little bit. Thought maybe was sun issue so trying diff spots in my yard, it does seem happy. Didn't think about the watering.

That's very interesting that watering affects the variegation. Just to clarify.. is it more water that increases variegation or less water?
