Question on Variegated Dwarf Namwa
Does anyone know if a non variegated pup from a variegated Dwarf Namwa can give variegated pups?
Thanks, Bill |

Re: Question on Variegated Dwarf Namwa
i have a pysang awak/variegated namwa, but its not a dwarf, i bought it from pr giants, jp sold it to me as a semi variegated plant. so far, with each pup, they are a little more variegated than the mother. dont know but maybe the next one wont be variegated at all.
how high is the pup? from mine it seems the larger they get the more variegated the leaves can get.

Re: Question on Variegated Dwarf Namwa
That’s good to hear. Another person I know who grows these says that his non variegated pups will produce variegated pups also. That’s good news.

That's an important question because of the plants ability to quickly switch from heavily variegated to completely green and vice versa.

Re: Question on Variegated Dwarf Namwa
Knowing that the plant produces a leaf about every 7 days and numbering the leaf on the right as #1 and knowing that leaf #2 & #4 are on the opposite side of the pseudostem makes the middle leaf #3 and the left leaf #5. It took 28 days to change the plant from visually all green to variegated.

Re: Question on Variegated Dwarf Namwa
There must be multiple strains of variegated dwarf namwa. My strain 90% of the time will keep the same amount of variegation. If it starts as a small plant with a little variegation then it stays the same as it grows. The same is true for if it has a lot of variegation. Obviously it varies from leaf to leaf. But considering the whole plant it usually maintains about the same amount of variegation.

I don’t think your photo is working. I can’t see it.

Re: Question on Variegated Dwarf Namwa
i didnt know mine was a dwarf, guess i missed it.
i dont worry to much about manipulation for variegation but, i would like to manipulate them to pup tho. at least without hurting them.

Easiest way to determine if you have a dwarf is to measure the length of a leaf blade and divide it by the width, a ratio of 2.5 or less is a dwarf.
