Re: Musa Nono
Surprised it looks good for a tiny root system. Curious to see how it grows for you.

Re: Musa Nono
Sounds about right and never saw one growing in moss either. Pretty sure I have never bought any type of plant growing in it. But it does hold moisture so that would explain it’s growing conditions as you suggested.

Re: Musa Nono
How exciting! Was this also from Lydia? I purchased one and it came with few roots in spaghnum moss, I quickly moved it to Fluval.

How's your Florida and variegated Dwarf Namwa looking? If they're looking good you should consider getting a variegated non Dwarf Namwa. The yellow variegation with these types are much brighter. |

I like to get them established in pots before putting in the ground. I added burlap to the plastic pot because they just get baked in the az sun. Ill probably wait till sept to put in the ground once the 115 summer weather is gone. I did a test with a couple pots, one burlap one not. The unburlaped pot got to 132 degrees by 9am and the one i had stapled burlap to was only 90, huge diff. Have it mostly in shade for now. Ill put it out in full sun in early mornings on my days off for a couple hrs and move it back to mostly shaded area. My other bananas are shaded by 11am. Microclimate is key here in the desert. The florida I put outside in am as for a couple hrs but its mostly kept inside for now on a heat mat with grow lights. I wonder if a grow bag may be better then nursery pots. The florida seems to love the pon, roots growing like crazy. The 2nd new leaf I got was smaller than the others, but 3rd was normal size. Guessing plant stress maybe, its growing well though. |

I'm glad both of them are doing great. It seems like everyone is a pro this year. |
Re: Musa Nono
I haven't tried this myself yet but maybe it can work for you. Paint the outside of your pot white. Or keep one side white and the other dark. That way you can face it depending on how much heat you want. Glad that pon is working out for you.

Pot Skirts work great or Pot Kilts depending on it's pronouns. :ha::ha::ha:

Re: Musa Nono
That's beautiful.
Keep in mind how watering affects the variegation with Dwarf Namwa. I get to observe this transformation with a field of Variegated Dwarf Namwa as we go from a dry period to a rainy period and vice versa. Quote:
