![]() Hello, after a couple of months my banana finally recovered from transplant. Today after I pulled some pups I went to mist the main plant and it immediately fell over. It looks like some sort of mite chewed all the way through the base of the plant. Does anybody know what these are and how I can get rid of them? I sprayed the area where the infestation seemed to be the worst with insecticide soap. Too bad this happened right after I pulled out some big pups because the plant is going to have to start over. Please let me know what you think!

![]() Not sure what they are, but I notice in your video there are 3 types of tiny white bugs. Tiniest, tiny-medium, and tiny-large. Couldn't help but also notice your plant has mold and rot in the outer layers, the stages of decomposition.
I use 1/2 Bonide Insect Soap + 1/2 watered down and sprayed my stalk once every other day. It worked! I used moist paper towels to manually clean up most of the live insects, it was like they sprung back at night. Now that a majority of the decay is gone the bugs seem to have left as well. Don't leave them there, they'll try to eat new growth too

![]() I can't tell from the video but i wonder if the main damage was due to corm boring weevils. If they were mine i would try to dig it out and examine the rotten root ball mass. If you have them, then consider removing all keikis ( pups ), checking each one for weevils and then i would shave all the roots off until the root ball was totally white. Soak in 10 % bleach solution for 30 minutes and then let them dry out overnight. Plant them in a new location. I actually do that to every banana that i purchase. Of course bare in mind i live in Hawaii where the rain reigns!
