A friend of mine has been carving for many years, but had stopped a few years back. Well, I started harassing him about getting back into it so he could carve me a tiki statue. He had never carved a tiki statue before as he mainly carved native americans and some folk art stuff. From my understanding there are certain styles to each type of carving. Anyway, I finally talked him into it about a month ago and we picked up some nice cedar logs from another good friend. Well, yesterday, he delivered his first edition of a tiki statue. He said it was a bit more difficult than what he first thought, but I believe he will be carving some more in the near future. I had gotten him into tropical plantings a few years ago and this was his way of thanking me... I look forward to seeing his future tikis if he thinks they will only get better. I thought this one was pretty awesome!!! So, what do you think!?!?!?!

Really nice and it looks perfect right next to that clean windmill palm trunk which also looks fantastic!
A work of art for sure! Enjoy

That's great! Too bad it weighs so darned much or else I'd be hiring him to carve me one, but the shipping would be a fortune!

I am not sure what he will end up charging, but if you look online, they ain't cheap that is for sure... The queen goes into my unheated garage, with fronds bent over a bit since the highest point in there is only 14'!!! She has spent the past 3 winters in there and actually done rather well which surprised me!!! The planter is actually a four sided wooden shell that one side bolts and unbolts. It is really potted in a 60 gallon nursery pot...

I actually have a dead Oak tree near the street at my house
I've thought of cutting all the limbs off & making it a totem pole |
