It sounds like you enjoyed getting to be one of the elderly. I'm quite satisfied with being "old" since many fear it so much and too many don't get this far. When I think of the mistakes that I made and how they could have cancelled getting old I sit back and thank God for allowing me to continue on with my life. Hope you enjoy fishing again, it was one of my favorite pastimes but now the plants are more important to me. We have many hours of labor to do to get this place in shape and I love doing it. If the squid are in the surf it might be a great time to fish from the beach.Got to be some large fish feeding on them

Epic time on the beach this morning. Started at Malibu next to David Geffen's house but it was slow so we moved south to Will Rogers and it paid off!

1 Ray
1 Yellow Fin Croaker
3 Shovel Nose Guitar Fish
1 Walleye Perch
5 Barred surf Perch
1 Corbina 21"!

This morning in Marina Del Rey. 2 Halibuts 1 Leopard Shark.

This little Leo need some help. The rubber band had started to work it's way into it's flesh. Maybe it will survive now.

What are the lengths on the Halibut

The first one was about 14' and the second a little bigger around 17-18" and pretty thick.

The water is so polluted in MDR I don't know if I'd even keep a legal sized one.

These were actually caught in the surf along the ABC streets just north of the jetty, but it's still really gross there. Smelled like solvent today.

There is a size limit nothing under a certain length.I think halibut is 22" maybe 24"

California Halibut

The recreational fishery for California halibut (Paralichthys californicus) remains open year round. The daily bag and possession limit is three fish north of Point Sur, Monterey County, and five fish south of Point Sur, Monterey County. The minimum size limit is 22 inches total length.

For the most part people just catch and release to help maintain the local fisheries.

As for the Halibuts I caught, they were not big enough to be legal. Big fines if you get caught taking fish home that are too small!

And then there is that polluted water around the marina areas. Who knows what's in that water!

Naah, here U can eat it direct from the Sea and there is almost no limits for surf fishing.

The only places that I won't eat fish from in San Diego are the bays.
