Default Hey Bryan

I was looking around a bit and found this. The track is LTLP by edIT who is a part of the Glitch Mob who we saw last night at the Roxy. Awesome show btw!! Enjoy!

Awesome! I was checking new posts and the thread name made me do a double take. I was like 'Is that for ME, Bryan? Or is there another Bryan with a 'Y??'' Thanks for sharing...great video! Very inspirational. I need to make a more recent fire video...haven't got any recordings of any fire spinning I've done all summer! I have done plenty of small private things for friends, participated in a 15 person fire performance for a party of around 300, but my big performance is two weeks from today in Iowa. I get to perform at a huge block party in downtown Des Moines next month for around 15,000 people! This will be my third year performing there and I've been attending it even longer. It should be a great time, once again!

Mmmmmm.....I love me some fire! *licks flame*

PS...I've got plenty of vids to share if you want to see em...only have two decent fire vids, though

Hey now....'weird' friends are the BEST friends, in my book! I've gotta say...my most individualistic friends are the most real, kind-hearted, talented and fun people I am friends with! Who cares about being 'normal?' LOL.

Aight....well, I'll try to get some more recent video to post. Buuuuut, to keep this thread alive, I'll post the two fire videos I do have. These are over a year old and I'm much better since then, but enjoy them for what they're worth...

If you're interested in seeing more of my videos, check out my YouTube. I don't think the tutorials will be very exciting, but there are plenty of practice/non-fire videos on there.

Bryan, how do light your arm on fire without getting burned like he does at 0:40? Special fuel?

Man, that makes me want to take up the poi again.... Not much call for it here, though - they're more into bolo and sticks in terms of less-known juggling.

LOL...yes, we ARE all weird, but that's what's cool/unique about us! I realized/identified myself as 'weird' from a very young age and embraced that fact.

The fire up the arm thing is done using 'white gas' also called naphtha or best known as Coleman lantern fuel. That's the fuel I use for my monkey fists in the first video (and more recently with my fire snakes as well since my other fuel is kinda hard to find). Basically, it has a low flash point, which means the fumes ignite at a lower temperature than other fuels. Gasoline has a much lower flash point yet, than white gas, but WG works well for fire eating (that's what the guy was doing in the initial video) for the flames coming out of is mouth after wick is taken away, or the arm trails, etc.

Burn specialist as in doctor/ER burn specialist? No, not really...or do you mean firefighter type of burn specialist? Either way, my heart is with optometry!

You spin poi?!?! *adds one more point to the Beth score* You should totally keep with it! It's very rewarding, fun, is an EXCELLENT stress reliever, is good for your body, increases flexibility/range of motion, etc etc etc. Even if you don't spin fire, a simple set of long socks with tennis balls in each will make a great practice set. Just wrap them around your hands till they're at the desired length (base of thumb to shoulder is the 'guideline'). If you (or anyone desiring to learn) wants help with moves, I'm a moderator of a site that focuses on such things, and also have a ton of YouTube tutorials. I'm always down to teach people new stuff! Again, you don't have to spin FIRE to spin poi! (but you can if you want eventually!)

Actually, you can make a cool/semi-dangerous thing with sparklers....get a 4" PVC pipe, fill it jam-packed with sparklers, then pull one of the center ones out an inch or two. Light the 'fuse' and STEP BACK! Whoever voted sparklers aren't dangerous didn't know how to PROPERLY abuse them!!! Don't worry...it doesn't blow up...just 10-20 foot flames....very satisfying, IMO!

Cool. For a few months now I have been meaning PM to ask you (a rather non-technical) optics question. Since it is in your heart, not just your head, I know that you are the person to ask.

With the whole nerd / geek thing going on here, I may have to ask Beth a similar (but not optics question).
