Good question. We need our West LA weather / banana update.

Windy & cold

Re: Current weather

The low last night was 71 and the high is supposed to be in the mid-upper 80s. The dewpoint is in the upper 60s. We had afternoon thunderstorms yesterday. Bring on the rainy season, if it's going to be hot it might as well rain.

Well, we got into the 70's yesterday, but down to 45 last night. Really windy here yesterday. Santa Ana conditions, warm and dry with cold nights. Not great for bananas, but at least they are all visibly growing now.

One of my thermometer reads 40F (doesn't show tenths) and the other shows 40.4F. I have moderate frost on my garage!?!?

Re: Current weather

This was at least our 33rd day with frost this year (may have had frost when I was gone to Nicaragua for 5 days). Last year I think we had frost on 4/8 and the year before on 4/2 or 4/1. Our normal last frost date is something like 3/23 and I don't remember any other frosts in April for the prior 40 years.

Jugo again, not a single rain drop, again :(

Re: Current weather

I think I need to move my thermometer. I have it under a large lemon tree and that probably traps heat from the ground. I maybe will build one of those fancy weather station houses. It must have been colder than 40.4F this morning to have frost. I built the copula that sits on my garage and can build something similar for my thermometer.

Showoff! :ha:

No frost here, but supposed to be low-mid 40's tonight. Pretty windy, though. Currently 20+ mph.

Heavy rain. Had hail and supposedly slushy snow earlier. Weird.

I'm in Vegas, and right now it's REALLY windy.

We had frost the other night and it's forecast for tonight also. The tips of all my bananas are black. Strangely, cannas are coming up already, and for me to have a canna winter successfully is a miracle.
