Red potatoes. From 1 5 gallon bucket, i harvested about 2 pounds. It was a left over potato from the grocery store, it started to sprout. I put about an inch of potting soil mixed with compost in a bucket, placed the potato and put about another inch of soil. 3 weeks later I had a plant. I just add more soil as it grew.

I was just testing it. Really happy with the results.

I love reading about people who just played around and got a crop. Congratulations! Now try a pineapple...

I've given up trying to explain to people that, yes, you can grow potatoes from store bought spuds. No, they aren't treated to inhibit growth and, yes, they will be clones of the ones you were eating a few months ago only tastier.

I have 4 "Irish types" ready to cut up sitting on my shelf right now--that's probably 20 "plants" when I'm done. And I'm going to split a sweet potato or 2 to plant also. Even if I don't get tubers from the orange ladies, I can eat the leaves.

I wonder what happened to the 2 pineapples I started but had to leave behind when moving. I have a feeling someone got a couple of fruits from them.

I have 1 in the dirt and another to plant; I'm not moving again until they produce. BTW, I grew one in MD for 9 years that never ever bloomed. Nice houseplant but not what I was expecting.

Some say to cut the top off a store bought pineapple and stick it in the ground, that never worked for me here in south Florida. Every one I started in a cup of water has grown and within a few years has given me a delicious albeit small fruit.

If you use a cup, make sure its clear glass so you can see when it needs water, cut the top way up high till you see little round dots in the meat, do not let the bottom get dry and change the water every week.

Once in the ground they don't do well with neglect. Water and fertilize like every other tropical. Mine are in partial shade except summer when it gets full sun.

Okay, what is that PR? I assume it's edible so how does it taste?

Where I live I can leave my tops in a pile and have had some even begin to flower without ever being specifically watered or fertilized. I try to plant them when I eventuallyget around to it.

Here it's called a Corazon fruit and tastes like a strawberry crossed with a guava.

It's a more vigorous grower than the other Annona reticulata trees that I have.

Still no pictures--must find my camera cord.

I probably shouldn't have but I clipped a few fiddleheads from the 9 lovely and obviously quite healthy Ostrich ferns cincinnana sent to me. I'm sauteing them in a bunch of butter for a birthday dinner tonight. What a wonderful gift I received!

I happened to look inside my potted little Sunshine Blue blueberry plant and found a purple berry. It was delicious! I have never liked cultivated ripe northern blueberries (wild, yes!) and find even "not ready" ones mealy. This wasn't! Lots of berries formed and more forming. Getting out my bird net in the AM.

I like them. But I'd choose a real cherry over them any day. But if you can grow Barbados cherries, you probably are in a zone where growing real cherries isn't a good option.
