I've got 2 nice varieties at home. I'll send you some when they fruit if US customs allows it. Have you ever tried pineapple jam?

I also tend to grow things I don't eat. I have pineapples, bananas, figs (again--why?) and citrus. I love tomatoes and standard fruits/veggies but they're fairly plebeian plants that anyone can grow (except here in FL it seems). I'm fascinated by different foliage and flowers so am drawn to the "unique". Plus you make a lot of friends at harvest time. BTW, in my efforts to find a way to stomach the flowers from my many ficus trees, I collected at least 100 recipes; I most certainly didn't test them all but I posted the one that more than made me glad I'd grown them. Figs & Cream Coffee Cake

Have you tried it freezing fresh chunks? Works for me.

If you ever find yourself out in the tropics you may want to try a pineapple or Papaya. Much better than flower induced ones.

I grew a pineapple from the tops as well. Planted it in the grown (even though I knew it would croak come winter) makes for a great focal point. Really showy colors on the leaves.

Kat...When that Paggi gets a bunch ready to eat, I will drive up and get it if you aren't going to eat them... Those are some outstanding flavored bananas!

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

I've got white roots over 1/8" long already, and it is loaded with them. I'll have to post a pic. Thanks for all the help, everyone!
