It's been quite a lot the past couple weeks. Month of drought and endless sun is making things ripen a month faster than usual.

I brought a load of bananas to Savannah. I am working with a researcher who is investigating the vitamins in different cultivars of bananas. This load had 4 Hua Moas, 1 Kandrian, 1 Saba, and 1 Goldfinger

Please give a quick taste report on Ula Ula if you have time. After trying my first iholena Tiguas I am in love with the taste of iholenas. I'm curious if they all have the same amazing fruity undertones. Truly an amazing banana! Thank you Rob! Beautiful bunch as always!

I find harvesting bananas to be a bit like fishing. You want to show off your haul.

I hadn't had them before, but from what I've read that size and look is typical, so they're perhaps known for not filling out properly..

Found out an amazing thing about the bunch of SH 3640 weighing 34.5 lbs. Cut off the first hand and it was so big I had to split it in half to use a 8 in paper plate.
Put one half outdoors on a table in shade and the other stayed in the kitchen in the AC. Still no color on the outside half hand. And the amazing thing I found out when I weighed the hand is that each finger weighs a pound. AMAZING !!! Will ripen indoors soon. Can't post pic - still having camera problems. |

This is my first ever bunch of (dwarf) Orinocos
They've been showing a bit of yellow for a few days now so I decided to not tempt fate and just take them down. The size isn't very impressive, there were only 5 leaves on the plant due to a late cold snap in the spring. After separating the hands they came out to 4.4 kilos. |

OK, Rob, you shouldn't be allowed to post in this thread anymore. It's just not fair.
